Error while creating DVD data folder, HELP!

Post by mojoski »

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to DVD & CD Pictureshow. I'm using v3.0 with the latest updates. I have not applied the DVD burn engine upgrade yet, but considering my error occurs before the burn starts, I don't think that matters. I'll apply the burn engine upgrade tonight..

Anyway, I have a DVD Slideshow project I'm trying to burn for my parents. It has about 500 images and about 400 short WAV files that are commentary on the individual images. As you can imagine, it has been quite labor intensive to get the project created, associating individual audio annotations with all of these images.

You can imagine my horror then when I finally finished the project, tried to burn it to DVD, and got the following error:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fail to create DVD Folder.(14)

Error Information:
Class ID : aac31137-d5e5-48e8-886d-52f2152e00f9
Function ID : 3
Line number : 481
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This error shows up in a pop-up box when the project is about 90% done with the task titled "Video/Audio multiplexing..." under the top level task of "Creating disk image file..."

I am using a Dell Inspiron 5150 with Windows XP version 2002 with service pack 2.

I have 512 MB of RAM, about 4 Gigs free on my hard drive and 2 Gigs worth of swap file. The total project size, according to the bar graph in the software is just under 2 Gig.

I'm working with the IOMagic external 16X DVD burner, trying to burn to a standard DVD+R disk fromFujiFilm, but like I said, I don't think the interface with the DVD burner has even been engaged yet at this stage in the burning process..

Does anyone have a clue as to what I should try next?

The first time I tried to burn this project, it died with an error from Windows XP saying I was running low on swap file space and the DVD Slideshow 3.0 app crashed. Could this have left some ugly temp files I need to delete to get a clean retry?

I have trippled the size of my swap file in the Control Panel and shouldn't have that issue again.

Any thoughts on what I should try next? This DVD is for my parents and I really want to get it to disk for them..

Thanks for any pointer or tips you can give me. If this is an FAQ, I apologize for not finding the answer yet. I searched the forum and didn't find anything that seems relevent.

Thanks!

Yes, it would be better to have your temporary folders cleaned up. Try also to free up more space and try doubling your page file. Remove application running and also with the system tray. Unplug any devices connected to your USB then try burning your project again. Hope this helps. ^_^

Bryave,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Since I'm new, please give me a bit more details on what you meant when you said to clean up my temp files. I do see a folder called "BURN_TEMP". Should I delete everything in there? Are there other files I should clean up?

I have been exiting every other app and closing everything in my systray, besides the basics like volume control and stuff like that.

I have also now freed up a few more GB on my hard drive so I should have plenty of space and have bumped my swap file size up to 2GB.

I'm still getting the same error. Any other ideas?

Does it matter if I have a Microsoft USB mouse installed? That shouldn't interfere with my USB DVD writer, should it?

I have also installed the burn engine upgrade now as well..

Anyone else have any ideas? Is there someone here from ULead that could tell me what is going on in that particular line of the code?

Why don't try contacting Ulead Tech Support? They might give you a fix regarding your problem. BTW have you tried updating its patches? Try this link: http://www.ulead.com/tech/dps/dps_ftp.htm ^_^
