QtBridge32 error

Post by imaref »

Bought a new laptop and am installing all of my programs. I installed Quicktime 7 for Windows (without the player), rebooted, then installed VideoStudio 2021. I was able to get VideoStudio 2021 to open ONCE, but as soon as I drag a video clip to the timeline the program crashes and closes. Then I would try to open it again and it crashes on the Welcome Screen. I uninstalled VideoStudio 2021 and reinstalled it WITHOUT bonus features (NewBlue)--same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime 7--same problem. I tried installing Videostudio 2020 just to see if it would work. While Videostudio 2020 doesn't crash on the welcome screen, it crashes as soon as I drag a video file to the timeline.

I had this issue once in the past and reinstalling Quicktime 7 for Windows always solved it. I'm hoping for some suggestions and here is a sample of the problem from Event Viewer:

Hi
Not all video files require the Quicktime codec, many Mov types will work without the QT codec.
It may be some older versions of mov that require the codec.
Video Studio 2021 does install a few Mov clips to the Overlays library, some being used for Titles all of which work without the QT Codec.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Contents\Samples\Video

You said “but as soon as I drag a video clip to the timeline the program crashes and closes” What type of video files were those?

Quicktime was removed by Microsoft I believe back in Win 7 days, so well out of date for Win 11

I would uninstall Quicktime
Check if VS runs ok, if not use the Cleanup tool to remove the program.

Install Video Studio, run to see if it performs without QT.

By the way qtBridge32.exe is install with Video Studio so maybe installing the Quicktime codec is conflicting with those files.

Thank you for your reply. I uninstalled Quicktime; rebooted; uninstalled Videostudio 20 and Videostudio 21; rebooted; ran both of the uninstallers that you linked to; rebooted; reinstalled just Videostudio 2021; rebooted.

Ran Videostudio 2021 for the first time--opened correctly but as soon as I tried to drag one of the included sample videos to the timeline, program crashed and disappeared. Tried to open Videostudio 2021 again--just as it tries to get to the welcome screen it crashes and disappears.

Any other ideas?

This is interesting. As a test, I downloaded/installed Videostudio 2023 and then rebooted. No problems at all with Videostudio 2023. Videostudio 2021 still crashes on opening. I did notice that in the trial there are NO Newblue effects. Could the crashing of Videostudio 2021 be related to NewBlue? Just grasping at straws...

Hi
In the past there have been problems for some, personally I have no issues.
New Blue filters have apparently caused the program to fail, advice from Corel was to Install Video Studio then before launching the program go to…..
C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers
uninstall the New Blue filters, then try running the program
I believe its important to uninstall before launching the program

Another option would be to install without the Bonus Features, that would avoid installing NewBlue

First I tried using the NewBlue uninstallers and rebooting--no change.

Then I uninstalled VideoStudio 2021, rebooted, reinstalling WITHOUT bonus features, rebooted and tried to run VideoStudio--it ran once, but as soon as I tried to drag one of the two .mp4 clips shown in the default library screen it crashed. Now it won't open at all. Again.

I just can't figure out what's causing it to crash.

Success! Thanks Trevor--turning off the graphics acceleration fixed the problem. I greatly appreciate your reply so I could get this solved.
