PSP 2024 release date

Post by Jimb610 »

I'm guessing 2024 will be available next week or the week after. I'll even pick next Thursday as the exact date. Picking that date as I believe PSP 2023 was released on 8/3/22. Who knows maybe with the new ownership the update will be delayed/changed.

Has anyone heard anything definitive about PSP 2024?

Thanks
Jim

It seems it will come, but perhaps later (August/September 2023).

Corel Painter 2024 is not released yet as last year.
Corel VideoStudio 2023 is in reality updated version 2022.

Look at Corel web site - https://www.corel.com/en/. There are some nice discounts that change almost every day.

Soi, something is comming... 8)

Well looks like 2024 PSP isn't coming out today.

Did a chat with Corel today. Was told -- Development dept hasn't said when it will release new version.

Yesterday I looked on Amazon for the "first date available" for PSP 2021, 2022 and 2023. All were the first Wednesday of August. Just my luck I crack the code and at the same time the new owners make a change.

Now I wonder why the delay. What's coming? Hopefully something good.

Dev team is in Taiwan, I think. And in last year there was some unrest in country, but who knows? :?

Hi Radim,

What you posted about updates is very interesting.

The version of PSP after the update is 25.2.0.58. When I click Help>About it says I have 25.1.0.28x64. Yet when I click Help>Check for updates it says There are no updates available at this time. So I'm confused. Why doesn't it install the update you linked to?

Thanks
Jim

Corel sometimes updates their server services in comming days. So let's wait a little, 2-3 days. :)

I think that "working" links are there for beta testers or so...

It would be wrong for people to go on expecting a release this year of a new version of PSP. I think it is pretty clear that with all the staff firings and changes since the Alludo takeover of Corel, they just don't have the staff to produce a full new version. So the relatively recent issue of the PSP update is all we can expect this year...

Well, according to Wikipedia: " In December 2013, the company's restructuring resulted in the layoffs of the Taipei locations engineering and quality assurance team. Corel's Taipei office was the core development centre of PaintShop Pro and VideoStudio, one of the company's most well-known photo- and video-editing bundles. The 2013 restructuring led to a partial handover of product development to outsourced companies, resulting in more rapid, low-cost development across its product lines. The company continued with layoffs in 2014 and once again at the beginning of 2015".

Corel (Alludo is just a rename) may not actually have much of a development team anymore... They likely still have a marketing team so likely there will be a 2024 version but whether it will have gone any development remains to be seen. I'm cynical I know but I'm not holding my breath.

As far as we get solid quality of PaintShop Pro 2023 ...perhaps SP3 :D most of current users will be happy and wait for next release.
