Strategies for working?

So, a general mental process tips question. Because today I hit that huge frustration once again.

I have been working on a clip for about an hour (or three) when I noticed the project properties were set to 1440x900 WHAAAA!!! Once I changed the project (and I have to go to the output settings and change them again too) all of my custom motions are all wrong and I have to now redo some and tweak some that are distorted now. VS does try to make it clear to me when I have messed up my starting project settings, but this happens every so often because I'm sometimes making square instagram video mini clips and sometimes just vanilla youtube 1920x1080's. What is the trick to making fewer mistakes, a checklist or just scraping your knuckles? what works for you?

It's a bit grinding, the detailed edits I love doing, animations, edging a PNG file here or there and so on, and after a while my patience goes if something causes the timeline to get messed up in chained editing mode for example. How do people keep sane and carry on editing?

1 / When the show messages pops up, I always hit the Details button to view the properties.
This shows the existing project properties and the video properties to be used next, at least I see what s going on.

2 / You could create a default project for your “square instagram video”
Then when you work on Instagram, open the default project, “Save As” giving it a meaningful name.

3 / if you were to do #2 for your other project types you could turn off Show Messages.

Indeed #2 is the way to go
and #2.1 will be to look often at the top right corner.

So I'm busy drawing up a cheat sheet from the documentation hotkeys now. And I noticed that SPACEBAR is often not pausing and playing the current clip. Is that as known bug?

No problems, always works as expected.
Does the keyboard need a quick clean, it does collect specks of dust /fluff, bread crumbs etc..

Yesterday we were having problems with my wifes laptop, that got a clean-out to fix things.
I then decided to clean my keyboard, surprised just how much dirt accumulated.
