Changing Laptop - Transferring Program?

Post by adamgeepics »

I have purchased VideoStudio Pro and have installed on my laptop, without issue, however it is a little slow. I have now purchased a new laptop, with a superior processor - how do I go about transferring from one machine to the new one? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Can we assume you have kept the original installation files and your serial number for it, somewhere? If you have, then simply install it on the new computer.

If you are worried about the EULA which restricts installation to one computer, then you could always uninstall it from the old computer -- though we have not been aware of any action taken by Corel/Alludo in cases of installation on more than one computer. It would be best, though, if you did not attempt to open the program on both computers at the same time.

If for some reason you have not stored the original installation files, then download the trial version and use your serial number on that.

What version of Video StudioPro are you using, we assume VsPro 2023
Could you update your profile to include those details, cheers.

As for installing VS on another pc, Corel are aware we do this with details showing on our Corel Account
https://account.corel.com/accounts/user/
Your Products - Product Status and Subscriptions

Once you have uninstalled from the old pc I would update the above details

Before uninstalling make sure you have moved any files you feel you may need on the new Laptop.
If you have existing projects then using Smart Packages could be the best option.

Thank you so much for our comments and advice.

I have retained all file and have installed onto the new laptop. On opening, the program advises that the product key has already been used, so I am stuck. I have logged onto my account (purchase made through CleverBridge) but there is no way to show that the application has been removed from the previous laptop.

I suppose that I could apply for a refund and then repurchase the key? Surely I am not the only person to have encountered this issue?

Hi
Once I log-in to my Corel account
https://account.corel.com/accounts/user/

I see a list to the right named Your Products

The list shows Registered Products, is your Video Studio listed there.

Below that option I see Product Status and Subscriptions
That option shows some of my programs installed on my pc device
Allowing me to update those details
What do you see?

Post updated
If you cannot find details on your Corel account you should contact Corel Support.
Explain that you have replaced the Laptop and wish to install on the new device.
The EULA covers these situations so you should have no problems.

I can log into my account and an see the registered product, however I cannot see any option to deregister a product from the current laptop. I've taken a screenshot - there are no options to the right of the product keys.

Hi
The attached image is what I see from the Your Account screen
If you cannot access “Product Status and Subscriptions” as shown on the image below then you should contact Corel Support
Sorry but just do not know what else to suggest.

After speaking with the customer services guys at Corel/Cleverbridge - I requested a refund of the original purchase and then bought a new key for the new laptop - thankfully I was within the 30 days for a refund of the initial purchase. Can't fault customer services - they have been great. Anyway, the application is now on the new laptop and working great. Thanks everyone for your replies.
