Hi!
I'm using VS 2023 under Windows 11, but I cannot edit any H.265 coded video file, becorse it appears in the timeline only black, no pictue at all. However, I can edit this H.265 coded video file by using Davinci Revolve 18.
I do have bought and installed H.265 codecs from Microsoft Store, but it doesn't make any difference.
Can somebody give me a tip to solve the problem?
Best regards,
Yang

I have to respectfully disagree. Below is a screenshot of 1080HD HEVC file on the timeline of VS2023.
@dryfang, how about filling out your user profile?
Please note this from the specification on the Corel website:
1 HEVC support requires Windows 10 or supporting PC hardware or graphics card and Microsoft HEVC video extension installed

Hi
csiman /dryfang
Are you able to share / provide a short sample of your video.
The guys here can test on their systems trying to identify any problems.

Re: VS 2023 cannot edit H.265 files
I can only agree with TonyP: H.265 video is almost the only type of video I edit in VS 2023 (and 2022 before it) these days. The video comes from a GoPro Hero 9 and an Insta360 1 Inch Edition, both of which I have set to film in H.265. I have, like Dryfang, also installed the Microsoft H.265 Extension in my editing computer. Video from either camera causes no problem in VS editing, and I use it for both HD and 4K footage.
So as lata suggests, it would be useful to give us a short sample of your video to see what it does on our computers.
