When I use the selection tool - auto select or magic wand etc - the outline around the object selected isn't round and smooth and uniform. It's jagged and doesn't look good upon close inspection.
Does anyone know how to select an object and get a smooth outline? I know I can go to Selection, then Modify, then pick one of the options there, but when I do, it still doesn't give me the smooth outline I am looking for.
If I am selecting a lens cap from a camera (for example), the outline around the lens cap should be circular. But when I inspect the outline by magnifying the image, I can clearly see a jagged, unpleasant looking outline that separates the object from the background after I use the Auto Select or Magic Wand tools, etc. I don't want a jagged edge - I would like a smooth, round, cicrular edge. Please advise. Thanks.
Here is a example of what I am referring to (magnified so you can see the jagged edge):
And here is the image at it's normal scale:
Yes, at normal viewing scale (bottom pic) the auto selection looks perfect, but upon closer inspection (top picture) the outline shows an unpleasant jagged edge. This happens with other items I select as well, not just this lens cap I used as an example.

Play with Feather, Anti-alias and/or Refine Brush.

Re: Object Select Tool Leaves Jagged Edge
Thanks for your suggestions Jean-Luc.
I played with the Anti-alias as you suggested, which helped.
And then I used the Selection, Modify, Smooth adjustment. I put the smoothing amount at 50, although I guess I could have gone even higher than 50.
This is the result I got, which is better.
