Jerky image 4k video followed by a shut down of VideoStudio 2022
In the preview window the images of a 3840x2160 /24 fps video show jerky. Many times the image freezes for a second or more and after a minute or so VideoStudio 2022 shuts down. I tried this several times. The video bitrate is over 13.000 kbps.
Is there something I can do to solve this problem?

Have you tried using Smart Proxy?

Smart Proxy is always on when a video exceeds 1920x1080.
Anyway, I cannot edit this video with Video Studio 2022. The program crashes about ten seconds after I have put the video on the timeline. During these 10 seconds the taskmanager shows that the use of the processor is 33 % and the use of the memory is 39 %. So, my computer is not the cause of these crashes. Very strange and frustrating too.

Does this crash occur with other videos? If no, then there is something strange with the video

Re: Jerky image 4k video followed by a shut down of VideoStudio 2022
I tried another 3840x2160 mp4 video and the program did not crash, however the images were sometimes jerky (not smooth).
Proper playback of 4k mp4 videos with VS 2022 seems to be a problem in my case.
I downscaled the 4k video which crashes constantly, with Handbrake to HD (1920x1080) and noticed that the downscaled video has a storage size of 1920x1080 and a display size of 2580x1080 (aspect ratio 2.38). Maybe this could be the cause of the crashing?

You mentioned having Smart Proxy enabled.
Creating Smart Proxy files can take a long time so a little patience required.
Once the proxy files are created a small double looking icon will show on the video clip / thumbnail
We can also see the proxy files via Settings—Smart Proxy Manager – Smart Proxy File Manager.
Some users seem to have issues with the graphics, changing or disabling the Acceleration options may help, worth a try anyway......
(F6) Preferences—Performance tab
The attached image shows the proxy icon

I've had similar issue with 4K (and MTS) in VS 21 - figured VS just struggles to code. My resolve is place 4K on timeline Video strip then disable the track then add the same track on Overlay 1 (albeit downscaled to 1080P) and make all edits concurrent to both tracks i.e. 4K duplicates 1080P edits. You can view the 1080P edits without jerkiness and with less crashes (unless MT2) then once satisfied, disable 1080P Overlay track, enable 4K Video track and render. Crap work arpound I know but I guess that's what we get for cheaper end software.

I assume you disabled the audio and playback scrubber settings as well already?

Actually no I didn’t - when the relevant track is disabled, those features don’t work from my recollection but I will try your prompt to see whether that alleviates my above methodzaphodikus wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:44 am I assume you disabled the audio and playback scrubber settings as well already?

I only suggested these performance enhancing suggestions, because I find that even on my powerful machine that VS slows a bit. For example I turned off the Effects Animations, and that helped a load on my older PC. Not shooting in 4K myself though.

Is the file an h.265? I dont have any problems with 4K files that are h.264 but the h.265 will not work well.
