Finding some things frustrating:
1. Preview screen often isn't showing the right thing, most often if I've blanked a track, it will still show that track (the track itself is still blanked, but it's contents are displayed on the preview screen). If I manually toggle to "project view" then back to "clip view" that seems to fix it in the moment.
2. The timeline cursor works differently and I either hate it or I just haven't gotten used to it yet. For example splitting a clip with the S-key splits it where my mouse cursor happens to be, not where the timeline cursor is. If I want to split a clip, usually I want to be very precise. So I would have to zoom all the way in so that I can position my mouse at a specific frame before splitting. Is there somewhere in the manual that this is all explained? I haven't been able to find anything.
3. Another on the timeline cursor (by which I mean the vertical line in the timeline view indicating the current position of the project). I was trying to stop my project at a specific point (to align a clip with a music event) and when I hit pause, the timeline cursor just jumps to a different position in the project altogether, unrelated to anything that I can tell. Maybe I'm inadvertently causing it to do that without realizing or maybe it's a bug but it's extremely frustrating and very hard to work with.
Any similar experiences or workarounds/tutorials that might help?

Re: Videostudio Ultimate 2023 complaints/questions
Re: 3 I experimented a bit to get a better handle on it. Often it works as it should but other times the timeline cursor jumps back when I pause. So if I hit pause at 2:20.26, the timeline cursor will pause, but jump back to a second before that or some random amount.
Regarding 2, basically I don't want anything to ever happen based on the position of my mouse cursor, but Videostudio thinks I do so it splits clips wherever my mouse is, it resumes playback whereever my mouse is, and probably other things I haven't run across yet. Is there some way to disable this "smart mouse cursor" feature? Just when I think I've gotten used to working around it, I'll do something and be completely surprised by the results and realize that it was the mouse cursor messing stuff up again.

Hi
Not sure if this is what you are seeing..........
Corel introduced Timeline Scrubbing, seems we have an additional cursor showing as an orange line
I find it confusing and gets in the way.
Go to preferences (F6) deselect Timeline Scrubbing
Also think Shift +B, or is it Alt + B will turn cursor off / on
Not on my pc to check........

Thank you - turned it off and my sanity is already almost all the way back to normal. Here is a short screen capture of the timeline jumping back when I pause. It's only going back a little bit here but at other times it's been worse.

Re: Videostudio Ultimate 2023 complaints/questions
Not just you @fingerbreaker , turning off a track will sometimes still show the track's clips in preview for me too. It seems to happen because of certain filters added to a clip, perhaps the filters still render into the preview compositor when they are told not to.

Did you report this problem to Alludo Supportfingerbreaker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 8:06 pm Finding some things frustrating:

Do you have same problems using earlier versions of Video Studio, or is this only VS 2023.
Note I have passed the details of this post to the VS development team
