BluRay Navigation Did Not Work

Greetings,

I created a Blueray disk using one of the provided menu templates (see attachment "Did Not Work.png" for the template i used) and the navigation did not work. So, i tried again and used a different menu template (see attachment "Worked Fine.png" for the template i used), added two additional *.m2t files and an additional *mp4 and the navigation worked perfectly.

I first render my projects to an *ISO, then burn them to disk. I have used this process many times, following the great advice i received from this forum, with no previous issues. But this is the first time i tried using this particular menu template.
Note: after rendering this particular project to an ISO, i viewed the ISO using VLC Media Player and the menu didn't work in VLC either.

So, Is it possible there is a problem with the first menu template i used? If so, can i fix it? Nothing changed from the first try to the second try aside from adding a couple additional videos. Yet, the navigation didn't work in my first menu template selection.

You make it clear that the issue is a failing menu image. So I've tried to replicate the issue . . . without success.

I have a copy of the BR plug-in, and it's supposed to be unchanged over the last few versions. This version from 2021, thus, should work with 2023. But when I executed it, the screen message was as the attached screenshot.

I have no idea why that happened.

So I tried to replicate your menu images using the DVD option. The menu images are usually the same for all types of disks. And even tho I have the extra menu pack installed, none of the menu images in my installation (all very standard over many versions) are anything like those in your screenshots. Screenshot

So, my question is, where did you get your menu images from?

The issue seems to be specifically associated with the BD Menu showing on Kens second image
As this menu is used by all VS versions then the problem should show on any version.
My old brain thinks this has been reported before but would need to do some searching, if it has then I would have reported to centercode.

VS Bluray burning is limited to the 7 menus, earlier versions did have additional menus to add, not updated since X10, comments to Corel fell on deaf ears.
Ken, if you do not have the additional menus I may be able to provide those for you.
I assume everything else works, other than this menu.

In the meantime I will try to replicate the menu problem.

This is actually my first try at creating a menu driven BluRay with VS2023. I successfully created many on VS2021. I did a search of this forum to see if i could find any previous issues, but was unsuccessful. Perhaps i wasn't using the wrong language.

Thank you for the offer of additional menu templates. I think ill be fine with what I have. . . unless i have found the only one that works, but i doubt that's the case.

I'll keep an eye on this finding and post any additional pertinent information. (Hmmm, i checked to be notified of any replies to my query, and was not.)

I have tested that menu and worked ok for me, only used 2 files, so will test again with 3 video files

The burner module as far as i know has not changed that much, certainly the menus have not been updated, so if they worked using 2021 I would expect them to be the same for 2023.
VCL media player as you know will play the ISO but a little limited in how it selects the titles, for me it did play the video

Hi Trevor - In my process, when the end product had no navigation, i was adding (5) *.m2t files to the Template that didn't work. That template had two pages. Then i added (2) more *.m2t files and (1) *.mp4 file to the Template that did work. That template also had 2 pages.

Logically speaking, the template itself has most likely become corrupt. So, sometime in the next few days, I will try again using the same (5) m2t files and the same template and see what happens. The rendering time for this 5 file project was quite extensive -- well over 90 minutes as i recall. Ill post the results. Stay tuned. . .

Also, i did not receive an email notification of a reply to this thread. I have received them in the past, but no longer for some reason. No worries. Ill check in from time to time.

You make the point that the BR menu themes are different from those for DVD. The last time I used a BR menu, years ago, that did not seem to be the case, so things have changed.
And without the BR plug-in loaded you cannot get the BR burn module up, as I found out.
So any ideas why the the BR plugin from 2021 (detail in screenshot) would give the result I posted above??

As far as I am aware the BD menus have always been different to DVD menus, only 7 being provided
AVCHD however do use the Bluray menus

Additional packs (menu pack 1 and 2) were provider to increase these by approx. 10 menus, that was last provided with X10. ( one for Bluray and the other DVD)
The file you show is for VS 2021, do you have that program installed? If no then you will get the “could not be determined message”

Greetings All,

Well, I'm very happy to report that the template is working. I repeated the process using the same *.m2t and *.mp4 files and the same template (the one i assumed was corrupt) and burned an ISO. I then opened the ISO in VLC Media Player and the navigation on all of the pages worked. That said, i didn't burn an actual BluRay disk, but i think its safe to say, it would also work.

So, false alarm on my part. Next time i have an issue, ill try and repeat the issue before i trouble you folks.

But there have been repeated assertions here and elsewhere that the BR plug-in hasn't changed for several years and should be usable on the latest version. But that's evidently not true, at least for me. I guess you are saying the BR plug-in really is version specific.

If you have the purchased version of the Bluray plugin then it should work for other VS versions. ( Help- Restore Purchases)
David I e-mailed you regarding BluRay, did you get that mail.
