"make video disk" re-renders mpg2???

Post by stinky2 »

i'm having all sorts of trouble getting a home video onto dvd. after i've done playing with my transitions and scene cuts, i've tried to burn from the "share" page. i've tried to save to .iso, and i've tried making video_ts folders. all with zero success (the process always seems to fail at around 30%). if i first save the video to mpg2, i'm able to make video_ts folder and then burn with nero, but the other two options still don't work. problem with doing this is that when i go to make the folders, the mpg2 seems to be re-rendered, and the final quality of the dvd isn't very good. any suggestions as to why this might be happening and workarounds?

Have you tried the "recommended procedures" outlined in the top posting "NEW USERS PLEASE READ THIS FIRST"?

There is a bug in VS! You must start with a new project and go to Share, load your saved file and then burn to DVD.

My guess is that you are not controlling your properties throughout the process. Any sort of re-rendering activity is a clue that something is wrong. I strongly reccommend that you read and follow the steps that are detailed in the Recommended Procedure for avoiding bugs in Video Studio. (This specifically directs you to make a video file first and then details how to make a DVD from the video file.)
