Hi all,
I'm capturing video from and old VHS Player through a scart to USB converter, the video displays fine in the project window when played and I start the capture, but once its captured it renders it with a white background washed out with pink, I first thought it might be the video settings which are NTSC and I can't seem to change them (UK based BTW) if I capture from the camera on my laptop all is good, So could this be an issue with the converter? I'm thrown a bit as it displays perfect in the project window, the problem only occurs when it’s rendered as a clip
Thanks
Stuart

Stuart,
Is your source footage PAL? If so, you need to match source with your capture settings. Also, are you using S-Video with your SCART/USB converter? Try capturing using RCA cables. S-Video could be the culprit.

First things first.
You said it plays OK during the capture, which suggests that the converter is Ok. You can check that after capture by using the free VLC player to play the saved file. But when the capture is completed/saved, and you insert the saved/captured file into the VS project timeline, then
1. do you get a message asking to match the project properties (assuming your PC app is set for PAL UK, and the NTSC file is different) - check that the Settings/preferences general tab, 1st item in project section "show message . . . ." is ticked. If it is, click OK. If it isn't, tick the box, click OK and exit VS without saving, re-open and confirm that the message is presented when inserting the saved file in the timeline. This message is only presented for the first clip in a project.
2. when playing the project file - does it play OK there in the preview window (ie, before render)?
If the foregoing are good, then the issue is really in rendering. When rendering tick the box to use "same as project settings". When completed, play it; does the reported condition re-occur???
