I've found an external hard drive with some old .VSP files on it. These are home videos, probably created with Ulead software, which I no longer have.
I have tried to open the files through 'File - Open Project', to no avail. I'd really love to be able to save these files in a different way, especially as these home videos will contain clips of my husband, who was killed in an accident 5 years ago. I'd love to be able to give these videos to my daughters, so they can remember him as they get older.
Can anyone help at all?
I'm using a Windows 10 Home laptop, and have downloaded Corel VideoStudio X8 from the website? Might it be I need to download an earlier version??
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to the forum.
On that external hard drive, in addition to the VSP files, are there also copies of the original video as used in those projects? If not, I am rather sad to have to tell you the VSP files will be no use to you anyway, regardless of whether you can get them open or not. That is because VSP files by themselves contain no video at all. They are small text files which contain information for VideoStudio about what videos are included in the project, where those videos are stored, what editing has been done to them, and information about what other media is in the project (images, audio, music etc).

VSPs are not videos, rather they instruction files used by VS to create videos. You must have the video clips available that VS needs to create videos.RevAnn wrote: I've found an external hard drive with some old .VSP files on it. These are home videos,
What does that mean? Is VS unable to open the VSP file, or does it open the VSP file, but the video clips are missing? If the former then is there an error message? If the latter, then if the "Relink checking" preference option is selected, VS will tell you where it expects to find the clips on your HDD.RevAnn wrote: I have tried to open the files through 'File - Open Project', to no avail.
It may be that you need a very early version of Corel VS, e.g. X2, to open your Ulead VSPs. However, as explained, you'll still need the video clips available that VS needs to create videos.RevAnn wrote: probably created with Ulead software
