When I open an image in PSP7 it is in the top left corner of the workspace.
This is not a massive problem but is it possible to make the image open in the centre of the workspace?

I had that problem a couple of years ago using older versions of PSP 7 and 8 on newer Windows machines. Between that and PSP crashing frequently I decided to upgrade my PSP, Therefore, I'm thinking it might be a compatibility issue with old versions of PSP and Windows 10 and 11.

You cannot change it.
This is normal behavior (by design).
The first image of a session opens aligned top left.
If you close this image and open it again, it will be moved a little to the bottom right. And so on.
Newer PSP versions have tabbed or untabbed mode. Tabbed mode opens the image centered.
