Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Ken,
I've been a little busy lately. I tried your suggestion of renaming the 19.0 folder to _OLD. After that I tried to burn the project again and chose the ISO image option. VS crashed again after 52% of the total progression, detaild progression 6% during multiplexing video/audio. See my earlier message on April 24: 'The system crashed after 52% of the total progression, detailed progression 5% during multiplexing video/audio. '
So almost at the same point! What do you think? That can't be a coincidence, can it? I think I have to check the whole project (haven't done that yet) and look for possible errors.
When I don't see any unusual things I'll try ImgBurn for burning the project. And if that doesn't succeed I will try to cut the project in smaller pieces to see if that will cause the same problems.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi
Just to add my thoughts here.
1/ Your video files from the Sony camera appear to be Bluray compliant.
2/ When you first insert the files to the timeline you should get a message to match the project settings. Selecting details will allow you to view the properties, then Yes
3/ After editing you render the project to a new video file, using the same settings as your video file, Share – Same as first video clip (option top left). Otherwise Same as project settings.
Check the properties are indeed same as your video files.
4/ This will render your project to a new m2t video file using 1920 x 1080 x 16000mbps x 50i uff.
5/ to burn a disc first we start a new project, this clears the timelines and uses the same project settings as in 4 above.
6/ Share - Disc-bluray, opens the burner module, we add our video created in 4 above. Top left for Insert video.
7 / after creating the menu we choose to create a disc image, an iso file, choose a save location.
8 / Which menu do you use, try a different menu, additional menus should be available from the Do More Content – Menu Pack 2
9 / Hit Burn -- the process should start with convert menu.
As you are using a Bluray compliant video there will be no Convert Title.
You should try / test the above using a short project, maybe a few minutes.
You can then apply the same approach to your main project.
Re-installing the X9 program 19.5.0.35, as you have already purchased the Bluray plugin, there is an option via Help for Restore Purchases, this should activate the Bluray option.
I note you mention the Pro version, so version numbers may vary from Ultimate.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Trevor,
I tried your suggestions and made a short project, somewhat 3 minutes. It worked! So I then tried the main project in the same way, but unfortunately VS crashed again. I didn't watch the whole burning process, so I can't tell at what part of the project it crashed. Maybe I'll start all over again and follow the above mentioned steps one at a time. Maybe I missed something.
By the way, I didn't got a message to match the project settings (nr 2/). So maybe that's not a good sign?
Thanks for your help so far and I will keep you informed.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Trevor,
In addition to my earlier message, I think I know the reason why the main project didn't succeed. For the short project I started all over again, by inserting a couple of scenes/files (5) to the timeline, to check if the message 'to match the project settings' would appear, which it didn't. And continued from there, just following your steps.
For the main project I selected the earlier edited file (VSP project) and start rendering it. After that I tried to burn an ISO file, which crashed. So like I wrote earlier, I'll start all over again by editing the main project and see if that will work.

When you did this, had you first selected File > New Project? You'll only get that message right at the beginning of a new project and you insert the first video.Paco wrote:For the short project I started all over again, by inserting a couple of scenes/files (5) to the timeline, to check if the message 'to match the project settings' would appear, which it didn't.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Your project properties should be set to the same as your video
Video:
Type: H.264 Video, upper field first
Framespeed: 25.000 frame/sec
Date rate: variable bit rate (Max. 16000 kbps)
Audio:
Type: Dolby Digital Audio
48000 Hz
Bit speed: 256 kbps
The show messages set in preferences F6 activates when inserting the first video to a NEW project.
As Ken mentions only shows once for each project.
Check that Show Messages is selected in preferences
It does not work for all video types, however your m2t video should work.
If the project settings already match the video then show messages is not requires and may not show, in which case go to settings-project settings to view the actual settings.
Also from Share – you should use your settings as shown above, Same as Project Settings would do that.
As you are now using a compliant BD video file when we hit the Burn option the process should start with Create Menu

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Trevor and Ken,
I just tried burning my project into an ISO file, following your steps. I made the project all over again. After editing I chose Share > Computer > AVC/H.264 and selected 'same as first scene'.
But unfortunately, it crashed once again. I followed the same steps as the smaller testing project, so I'm a little frustrated and desperate right now.
Although my project settings are the following:
Type: H.264 Video, upper field first
Framespeed: 25.000 frame/sec
Date rate: variable bit rate (Max. 16000 kbps)
Audio:
Type: Dolby Digital Audio
48000 Hz
Bit speed: 256 kbps
my project settings in the burning module (Blu Ray) still says:
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper field first
(HDMV/PAL), 16:9
Variable bit rate (Max. 35000 kbps)
Bit speed audio: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 kHz, 1/0(L, R)
What am I doing wrong here?
Should I not have selected AVC / H.264 but amended instead for rendering the project?

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
I gave details of the approach you should take on this post
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=399384#p399384
When you get to #4, does that complete without crashing, and you are able to create a new video file.
Are you able to play that Video to check quality?
Read #9 regarding Create Menu v Create title, as you are using a compliant video convert title is not required

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
As Trevor has said, if you are using a compliant video, then convert title is not required. And to make absolutely sure of that, when you open the burning module, open the second icon in the bottom left of the burning screen (the one with the cogwheel on it), and make sure the box beside 'Do not convert compliant MPEG files' is ticked. Since the AVCHD file of your project which you have apparently produced is Blu-Ray compliant, this will ensure that file will not be converted during the burning process i.e. you won't get a 'convert title' message during it.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Trevor, yes I went through your approach step by step. The rendering of the project completed without crashing and I was able to create a new video file. I check the quality (especially around half of the project, since the crashing takes place around 50/52%) and it looks just fine.lata wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 9:04 pm I gave details of the approach you should take on this post

Ken explained that the box beside 'Do not convert compliant MPEG files' is ticked. That is the case, so that's seems to be right.
Should I also change the MPEG-settings (also in the second icon, the so called cogwheel) into my project settings:
MPEG (Transportstream) files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper field first
(HDMV PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Bitspeed video: Variable (Max. 16000 kbps)
Daterate audio: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Because the settings for file conversion are standard:
MPEG (Transportstream) files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper field first
(HDMV PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Bitspeed video: Variable (Max. 35000 kbps)
Daterate audio: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
I think that's Blu Ray standard 1920x1080 settings and if I choose Blu Ray H.264 1920/1080 there the bitspeed video changes into variable max. 20000 kbps.
There is possibility to change/modify the MPEG-settings. For example change the video format from MPEG-2 into H.264 video. Should I change something there perhaps?

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Because you are using a Bluray compliant video file 1920 x 1080 x 16000kbps x 50i aka 25fps interlaced.
The mpeg settings set for conversion will not be used, “Do not convert compliant mpeg video” takes affect as in "do not convert". It is pointless updating these settings.
When you finally hit burn button - the process should start with Convert Menu.
If it starts with Convert Title then the video is being rendered / converted, this is wrong and unnecessary as you are using a compliant video.
The ISO created will / should be using 1920 x 1080 x 25fps interlaced, upper field first.
I will run a test using X9 to make sure what we describe here does indeed hold true,
Give me a little time to install X9.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Ok
Using one of my bluray video files, Quito.m2t:-
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Lower Field First, (Ignore this as normally Upper Field could be used.)
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
I Started a new project………..
1 / Inserted video to timeline, this is to make sure my project properties match the above settings.
2 / Pressing Settings – Project Properties (Alt+Enter) I can confirm these settings as correct. ( AVCHD)
3 / File -- New Project removes the content from the timeline, the new project using the same settings as above.
To burn a disc, create an Iso………..
4 / The timeline is empty – Share – Disc – Bluray opens the burner module
5 / from the first panel – top left for Add Media – Add Video File, browsing to find my Video file, Quito.m2t
6 / If I wish I can add other video files, each being a Title.
7 / There is an option to Add Chapters, I pass on that one.
8 / Next – Gallery allows me to choose a menu template
9 / Edit tab allows for addition stuff, again for this test I pass those options.
10 / Bottom left for Project settings, Do not convert is selected, the only thing of use here is the lower panel Navigation Controls, our choice, but will depend on how many Titles you have used #6.
11 / Next….takes me to the final page where I choose to create a Disc Image, ISO, deselecting Create to Disc (we could also choose Create Blu-Ray Folder - BDMV)
12 / to the bottom left is an icon for Settings and Options – Preferences (F6) here we can choose a Working Folder. It may not be relevant or indeed used but make sure it is pointing to a folder of your choice. (It will be used if Convert Title is used)
13 / Ready to hit Burn – A message “This action will take…..” Ok to that
14 / progress starts with Convert Menu, this is correct.
It should not start with Convert Title.
15 / The process continues with Preparing output, may take a while.
16 / when complete the ISO can be played using VLC Media Player
17 / We can also unzip the ISO to view its files, this will show the BDMV folder structure.
Locate the Stream folder to find the video files, ( along with short Menu videos) our files can be imported to Video Studio to check the properties, which should be as your original video files.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your response. I tried to burn a disc image once again, following your steps. However, it crashed again. I'm going on a holiday in a few days and will make some videos there also. When I return I'll try to make a smaller project to test and see if there is a particular part of the project that causes the constant crashing. I will keep you posted in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again for all your effort so far. Ken also.

Re: Crashing of VideoStudio X9 Pro during sharing/burning process
Hi Guys,
A couple of weeks became a couple of months... I'm giving it a new try. Just to make sure the project that constantly crashed, isn't the cause of the problem, I'll start a whole new project of the new videos that I shot the last couple of months. If that succeeds at least I'll know that the software isn't causing the problem. I will keep you posted.
