Another issue that is massively frustrating. I have created two separate projects, each a little over 2 hours long. When rendered, the final video plays for a short time and stops. The video length is correct, but on one project the playback stops at around 7 minutes and on another at around 20 minutes. I tried to render using the nVidia acceleration, the AMD acceleration, and without hardware acceleration. The end results are exactly the same.
An interesting additional tidbit is that if I upload the final file to YouTube, the video freezes the same way as when it is played on the computer, but the audio continues normally.
I have already done the cleanup of the software and reinstalled it in safe mode, while trying to deal with the previous issues that I posted.
Here is an example on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPn-o0jaHC4
I am hoping that it is just the result of something I missed and not another bug, like the sound issue and the "out of memory" error that I reported earlier.

Update: Same as with the other two isses, this is happening on two separate computers.

Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
Update: If I cut the projects into 30 minute sections, they render fine. Anything longer, does not. When playing the final rendered file with Media Player, I get to anywhere between the 5 and 15 minute mark on the failed video and it either stops, skips to the end, or gives a message about unfamiliar encoding.
When I cut the projects into multiple 30 minute segments, each one renders perfectly fine. This happens with every project of any length that I have created. On two separate computers.

Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
I used to never go over 20 minutes on a project in VS2021 for this reason. I found that it is often caused by an overlay or masking image that is not the same aspect ratio as the project or some other problem, I always suspected the proxy cache was perhaps a cause. Manually resizing images before import sometimes helped. Eventually I started making longer videos as "sub-projects" and then just bring them all into one bigger timeline parent project. Hope that works for you.

Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
Thanks. That's what I did. I made 30 minute projects and then joined them with ffmpeg. I did not have this problem in VS2021.zaphodikus wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:52 pm I used to never go over 20 minutes on a project in VS2021 for this reason. Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
can you give some info on your files and the settings you were rendering to?
I just renders test 57min mp4 file, it has no issues.

Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
All of my source files are MPegs. As a matter of fact, all but two created in VS2023. There are a total of 4 tracks, with very few cuts. They are mostly overlaid flat on each other. There is a blur effect on one track throughout. Render at FHD 30P.

Re: Issue rendering in VS2023
I had issues in the past (VS2019 and 2021) when I had a bitmap that was an unusual bit depth, or some-such in timeline, or a MP4 video that used a weird framerate, that can also bork things. Whenever that happens I re-encode any troublesome video using ffmpeg, or just save the image file with different parameter in paint dot net. It's wierd, but some people are lucky and never have the issue, often it boils down to preparing your source media differently until VS becomes stable for you.
