VS 2023, corner of my overlay pictures are cut off

Post by csiman »

For whatver reason, when i add a picture as an overlay the top right hand corner of the picture is missing. Its obvoiusly not missing in the original file, but it is when i add it to the timeline as an overlay.

Are you using a template for the overlay?

Correct
I noticed it few days ago while working on a project.

I just noticed the same thing. Not consistently, though. It seems to only happen when I make the overlay video smaller than a certain size. This is now the fourth serious issue in 2023 that I have encountered since purchasing it a week ago.

Hi @mgmax666, Not sure if this is your first trip with VideoStudio but if it is you are in for a world of pain. I've been suffering with this software for several versions and years which looks great, works just ok, has a random MAJOR crashing problem and poor development/quality testing.

About your issue.... yup. I'm having the exact same problem with VS2023.
I had a project from VS 2021 which did not have the right corner chipped off but when I moved my project to VS2023 the right corner chip appeared.
I tried with a net-new VS2023 project and tried dragging images to the main video track as well as the overlay tracks and the right chip always remains.
I noticed that when I dragged an image to the main track, the image is slightly higher than the screen size so the chip is not visible. Resize the main track image and the chip is there.
On the overlay tracks the image comes in scaled down so the chip in the right corner is quickly apparent.
I initially thought it was filters and FX but just an image on the track and that chip appears.

Would love to know if anyone is able to resolve this issue.

Potential workaround is to apply a crop to the image to trim off the top few pixels which may work for smaller projects but I have a project with 1500 images dropped in with all sorts of filters, transitions, FX, motion, etc. so it becomes a significant time-suck to go through every image/frame.

Good luck!

No! How did I not spot this yesterday!

You are so kidding me - I bought this literally 2 weeks ago. I am so making a support ticket about this when I get a moment on the weekend, hope it's not a flood of the helpdesk and an easy fix can come through presently.

FWIW I have drawn the attention of the Alludo project manager for VideoStudio to this problem. They will try to replicate it (though it sounds as though they will be able to), and work on a fix.

I just started using VS 2023 and found something similar. I did a quick render to see how things were working and found 2 corners missing. Both instances are fine while editing. Everything is lined up so the edges should be good in the overlays. Any way to fix this?

I would normally fix that FIRST problem by dropping a blue bitmap or even a screenshot behind the clip. I often am lazy like that and do much of my editing on track2 and leave track1 as a backdrop - I also use chained editing a lot as a result.
But yep, that white square top-right is the bug we are all waiting on a fix for.

I'm not seeing Corel publish any patch notes here anymore https://kb.corel.com/en/127740 anyone know where they publish patch notes now? It's been 2 months for this fix and unable to see if there have been any fixes because we don't get any web page to go see what gets patched.

For the past 5 years all service patches have been delivered to us through the program, we have not been able to download any updates, view this topic.......
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=58892

Certainly for VS 2023 we would have expected an update by now.
The development teams as far as I am aware are working on outstanding issues/problems/bugs.
Once they are satisfied they have covered all known issues will they release a patch, that is my thoughts ........

Of course I can understand the frustration these delays cause, hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Post Updated
As a workround you could apply Customise Motion, no need to alter any settings, just ok the default settings and the corner seems to disappear

"customise motion". that's a good solve in my book. Thanks.

bY way of an update the issue I raised about the "space" in Titles being hard-coded width, has got a response from the support desk, so I'm hopeing now they look at that for the same update. Still would like to see the frequency of updates and see patch notes as a matter of good software discipline.
