RotoPen plugin? Missing

Post by zaphodikus »

I was under the impression that the ProDad rotopen was part of 2023 Ultimate. Was I mistaken or did I mess up the upgrade somehow I wonder.

I suspect something did fail because the new plugins (I upgraded from 2021 to 2023), some of them are present as far I can see. But my old folders and clips library got reset in the upgrade. not a biggie, but that was unexpected.

Look in VS2023's Store on the Home page. Both proDAD Script and Rotopen are available there (free).

The other way you can get them is to go to your C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2021\vft_plug folder and copy the proDAD Script and Route files and transfer them to the same folder in VS2023.

I have found those files thanks. I want to add a new kind of vehicle, it's a variation on the red car. I have a gif that animates the wheels , just want to convert it correctly to a tiff archive. I have no experience with tiff, but I am assuming it supports image sequences or sheets the same way animated giffs do.
It's only 20 frames, so im looking for a tool that will save me a tiff correctly.

/edit OK I have wrong end of a stick. TIF files don't support animations. How do I create a custom animation for the rotopen tool? Those vft files , how does one make your own animation?

Thanks Alan. As I said above, I have never tried to make a GIF animation, so have no first hand experience. Ulead (Corel's predecessor) used to make GIF Animator and its last version -- many years ago -- was 5. It was not even supposed to be compatible with Vista, let alone Win 7, 10 or 11, though some users claimed to have it working fine in Win 10. There must be other third party GIF animation programs out there, however. So all I can suggest right now is to do a Google search and try one of those...

Ulead GIF Animator 5 is fully functional using Win 10, however make sure you download from Viking Animations, an Advisor for other Corel Products

It is worth a shot if VS will import the multipage as I was hopeing. I got the impression they don't let you make custom animating images when I read the tutorials and documentation ; it never mentions being able to do so.
I've not user IrFanview for ages. But it's worth a shot if only to work out if it is possible, for now I have gone with a image that looks prettier but not animated until I find time to try it out.
