Menu Music Not Converting - 4572

Post by SereneAurora »

Hello! New to the board, but I've been scouring it for days with different questions I've had. I've found pieces parts of my issue and tried a few things, but no success. Here's my story, using Movie Factory 4, still trial. Love the software (mostly) and plan to purchase so long as I can get this fixed!

When trying to burn my project, I get the lovely -

"Convert step got some problems! (4572) and then
"Unspecified error, Report ID 0x800411dc (4572).

I was able to pin down that it's having a problem with the music files I have selected as background music for my menus. When I remove all music from the menus, this error disappears and my project will burn.

Here's some background on my project -

I've captured footage from video games using a video capture/TV tuner on my video card. They are DVD quality MPEG2 format. I then edited those videos together using Video Studio 9, leaving them as high quality as possible. I have 6 different videos, and thus, 6 different menus. I've created chapter stops for each video and I'm using special background pictures (jpgs) for menu backgrounds. I want a different piece of music for each menu, as well.

I originally tried burning a test of this project with Movie Factory 2, and this error did not occur. I downloaded the trial of Movie Factory 4 because I wanted the ability to drag and drop my thumbnails. I did NOT uninstall 2 before installing 4, however I did put them in different locations on my hard drive.

In scouring these boards, I have tried several things to resolve this problem, solutions to similar problems I found. None of these have worked or changed my issue in any way. :(

1. I've tried MP3 -and- WAV format.

2. I changed the filenames to simple things - gmusic1.wav, gmusic2.wav, etc. (They were "Day of Life.mp3", that sort of thing.)

3. I attempted a full uninstall of everything I had, Video Studio included. This did solve some other minor issues I had when working with MF4, but not this one. My "Full" uninstall included removing the programs from Control Panel, deleting all Ulead files from Program Files and my hard drive, and even deleting any and all Ulead entries I could find in the registry.

4. I've tried different programs to convert these files. I've tried iTunes and CDex. Converting them makes no difference.

5. I tried random other files I have, to make sure it wasn't a problem with these particular ones. Any random piece of music on my computer will not convert, either.

So I'm a bit baffled. I know there are definite issues with having an old version installed and then putting a new version on top of it, so that's why the full uninstall, but I'm concerned I might have missed something important. In my searches on these boards, I found the FULL uninstall instructions once, but I've scoured and scoured and cannot find them again.

Can someone show me a thread with the full uninstall instructions, or make any other suggestions? Is this maybe a bug with MF4, that it doesn't like menu audio? I saw some things that suggested it as a possibility, but not solid.

I'm stumped. Your comments are appreciated - thank you!

Ooops!

I forgot to mention another thing I tried. I tried just burning the .iso to my hard drive. Same error. Blech!

Again, thank you for any suggestions!
