Weird error when rendering

Post by MikesMovies »

Hi

I have been trying all day to render a project I made.
I can play back in edit no problem, but no matter what I try I can not get it to render.
Gets to 22% and simply stops, does not crash or anything just stops and no file is made.
I ran screen capture while it was rendering in the hopes of catching an error but there was none.

Please help I need this out quickly.

Hi Mike
What is on the timelines at 22%.
Have a look at the video at 22%, is that different to other clips, check the frame size etc.
Explore anything else on timeline

Hi Trevor

Nothing just the same as the rest of it. I had hoped something was there I could remove.
I've split the project now, 10min/10min and will try rendering each section, should at least point to the issue?

Hi Tevor.

OK, of course 22% was 4.4 the fact that the preview screen was at 9mins before the program failed fooled me.
I looked at 4.4 and the area and there is some weird stuff going on.
Where overlay 4 stops is where my camera shut down, where it starts again far right is where I restarted it.
For some reason Studio will not let me join these two clips up?
Also you can see indicated by the arrows where I can not fit anything into the track, its like there is a narrow block there. Very strange.

OK, fixed but not answered.
I ended up taking everything out of overlay 4 and making a new overlay 6 for the media.
It's rendering now!

Strange anomaly, would have been nice to find the reason why?

Good to know you have managed to render the project and that’s what counts.

Yes thanks, video is up. Still very strange.
Is there a list of junk and temp files within VS I can delete?
I have loads of small 1k black images in several folders for example?

Hi Mike
Are these jpeg images saved to your own folders or saved to Video Studio folders. I assume your own images, in which case they could be removed assuming they are no longer in use, this is just a matter of file management.

Hi Mike
I would suspect that over the years you have created folders for your Working Folder, first year - 2017-0808-2223, at some point you have taken a snapshot of a black screen, maybe a black clip.
You have repeated this over the years.
What else is in the folders.
I would think you can delete the black files, besides if you do need a black clip they are readily available.

By the way Video Studio X10 was the only program to actually use a folder called X10, all other programs use the 20.0 names format, the two folders could be confusing.
