I hosted a Zoom meeting and recorded it via Zoom, 1.5 hrs. Editing it in VS 2022 Ultimate is slow, especially splitting video and audio, almost makes editing unworkable. Anyone else have same problem with MP4 recording via Zoom. Trying edit in VS 2021 Pro causes crashes. Something in the MP4 Zoom recording or the software? I have settings in both programs to smart proxy and also right clicked on movie files to do the same.
I have not had this problem when editing video shot with Canon XF400 video camera.
Thanks for any help.

Reading more about Zoom just now. This what I didn't do: Zoom on the internet says: "Go to your (Zoom) account settings to choose an option to optimize your recording for a 3rd-party video editor for the best results."
Re: Recording Zoom meeting, slow to edit VS 2022 Ult & 2021 Pro
I have found that when that option is ticked it lowers the bitrate resulting in worse quality. Here's a good YouTube video with confirmed tests. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6vFbZJRJvE
The problem lies with the audio. VS does not like 1 (mono) 32000kHz. You're better off converting it with FFmpeg, Handbrake, etc. to 2 (stereo) 48000kHz.

Ah ok, thanks Rwernyei for your reply and youtube link. Explains why at one spot audio completely dropped and at one spot audio completely blown out (loud)

Re: Recording Zoom meeting, slow to edit VS 2022 Ult & 2021 Pro
Hi Rwernyei - I downloaded Handbrake but am challenged with how to make it stereo and 48000kHz, would need to figure that out. The option ticked in Zoom for use with 3rd party editing software, does VS still work ok with it, doesn't get hung up, run slow, crash? I'm ok right now with reduced quality as long as I can get through an edit. Unfortunately I would have had to tick that before starting recording, next time.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Recording Zoom meeting, slow to edit VS 2022 Ult & 2021 Pro
Candy,
It won't matter if it is ticked. Zoom always records at sub 2000Mbps bitrate 25fps 1 (mono) 32000kHz with varying resolution. I say this because sharing your screen during your recording determines the final resolution. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articl ... rded-video
Simply throw your example: videoXXXXX.mp4 into any converter and set audio to 2 (stereo) 48000kHz and import new .mp4 file into VS. Then it should be fine and you're ready to start editing.
If you want to test, I can convert your Zoom .mp4 to a new .mp4 to try with VS. Let me know and I can send you a PM with link to upload to my Filemail server.
