Editing out blank screen time on the timeline

Post by detectingdavid »

Hi all,
Is there a quicker way to locate blank sections of a timeline rather than manually scrolling through the clip, splitting it our and deleting the blank clip.
Thanks alot

No longer use VS but under Search|Find Empty Time Slots is what you're looking for.

There was an option to Split by Scene which would isolate the blank sections allowing us to delete the clips.
Unsure if this option works for all types of Video, you do not give any details of your video.
How did you manage to get blank sections?

Not on my pc to check this, but right click a clip to show a menu, is Split by Scene available?

Hi David,
It isn't necessarily faster, but if you click on your clip then click "Option"s and click the "Split by Scene" button in the Options panel. This will open the "Scenes" dialog box where you can scan by "Frame Content". Your blank segment from your video capture will appear as its own scene that you can delete. This function can help you remove other unwanted clips by automating the process of chunking them up.

Sorry, these are EC-30 tapes shot on a Panasonic NV-G202 camcorder. There are numerous blank sections (blue screen) which I'm trying to edit out.
Yes, the Split by Screen option is available, I'll give that a try, thanks guys..
