Combing VS files into one folder

Post by brucefl »

All my projects ( I believe are in one folder), but I have folders for VS12 Corel VS13, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22. Should the only files to be concerned with are .mpg4, wav's? How about UPD files?
The main concentration is in Documents, under Corel VS PRO and Corel VS. I know the biggest headache is re-linking which usually is never fun.
I know the easiest way is leave it all alone and just uninstall the programs VS19 & 20 which are the ones on it, except for VS22.
Such a headache, and when I install VS Ultimate 23 start again.
Thanks Bruce

Ah, you have just found out why - altho VS allows project folders within it - it's better to create a separate folder(s) for any data (video, audio clips, photos etc) outside the scope of VS. It does not impact how VS operates in any way - the project files just have a different address for the components within it. Doing that means you can re-use the same data for project files in more than one VS version, and it's not affected when you decide to uninstall an older version, as you seem to have decided to do. And yes, uninstall VS normally removes everything for that version.

So, my suggestion is to create a data folder or folders (eg, one each for different types of clips, such as a video folder, and audio folder and a photos folder) and transfer the material from the VS folders to those new ones before you uninstall.
