Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
I am unable to burn a project to a Bluray Disc in Video Studio 2022 Ultimate. I keep getting an error message Unspecified Error 5.0.0. I have tried burning on another program and it works so there is no problem with my burner. I have contacted Corel and there Support Engineers have tried to solve this problem and now they have transferred the query over to their Level 2 Tech Team but I have not heard back from them. Is anyone else having this problem.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Hi Tezza
At what point do you get the error message?
There are 2 options to burning discs, we can burn from our project files VSP, with the project open we do Share Create Disc. The burning process will start with Convert Title, this is where your files are being rendered / recoded, this is followed by Create Menu then Multiplexing.
We should be able to avoid the recoding / Convert Title by first creating Bluray Compliant video files, then from an empty timeline – Share Create Disc – here we add our compliant video files .
From your image, I noticed you are burning to a rewritable disc, these have caused some issues for some users.
You appear to be using dual layer discs which have been known to cause problems, single layer discs being easier to work with.
OK
If you select to create only Create Blu-ray Folders, then hit burn does that still show the error, if so at what point in the process? I would then use a program called ImageBurn to create the disc.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
A few extra points to consider, after looking at the error image provided:
1. avoid normalise audio. I've had issues with that function in the past, it looked like a software problem, and after thinking about it, abandoned the function. "Normalise audio" would normally make audio in the video the same level, or close thereto. But if you want loud or soft audio in parts, this function would override that considerably. Then there were the error issues . . . avoided by avoiding the function.
2. in the set-up, avoid using the max burn rate default (the setting is usually under the info button): set the burn rate to match or be below the rating of the disk you are using in the burner. for BR, probably around 6x. This applies for all disk types - DVD, AVCHD etc, and for each type the burn rate is both different and specified by the manufacturer: for a standard DVD, usually it's 16x. You will find the rating on the disk platter, and on each disk. What you are doing with this setting is controlling the rate at which your video data is being fed to the burner cache: too fast and the cache is re-filled before all the prior data in it has been burnt to disk). Trying to burn the disk too fast just corrupts the data and you wind up with a disk that's just good for a drink coaster.
3. in the four options for burn, deselect them all, and then choose only 'create disk image'. What this does is create a disk image file (an ISO) on the computer that can be read by various players, like VLC. When the operation is complete, you can use VLC to play the created video file (it does BR) and you can check it for all the various things you want - good image, audio Ok, no errors, typos and spelling that snuck past your checks etc. These sort of things have a habit of jumping out at you just when you think you have it done. If you find something you want to change, re-open VS and do it - all you have wasted is a bit of computer space that is re-usable. Make sure that in re-doing anything you don't create a filename conflict - add a numeral to the name of a new file, and remove the old ones when the disk is burnt. If the play by VLC is good, go to the next step.
4. You've indicated that the burner is OK by using another software package to create a disk on it. If the result of playing the BR file in VLC is OK, then you can use VS to burn the disk (main tool bar: Tools/Burn from disk image (ISO), or you can use a 3rd party program to burn the disk (eg, as Trevor suggested, Burnaware free, or one of many others). If at this point you use VS and get a burn error, you know that the VS burner option is the source.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Hi Trevor I have no problem with Create Bluray folder. I tried with a non re writable disc and had the same error message. The message only comes up in the last 10min of recording. I used Power Director to burn another Bluray Disc and had no problem. It only seems to happen using Video Studio.I am using a rewritable disc as its too expensive to keep trying to burn discs.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Hi Tezza
I noticed you are using the D Drive for your documents folder, I do not think there should be a problem given that you are able to create the BluRay Folders.
The burner does have its own Working Folder which can be changed via Preferences (F6).
Open the burner module, lower left icon or hit F6, is that working folder still looking at the D Drive.
As I say I do not think this will create a problem.
Ok both David and I suggested creating a Disc image file or Bluray folder, this you say completes without problems, which seems to point to the burner process and not the rendering processes.
Using the Disc Image option is useful as we can play the ISO using VLC Media Player allowing us to check quality before committing to disc thereby avoiding those coasters. Although you are using RE discs.
Once happy with the quality, to burn the Disc Image go to Tools – Burn from Disc Image Iso, locate your ISO file.
It would be interesting if this process shows the same error.
Otherwise a small app called imgBurn will complete the disc creation from either Bluray Folders or ISO.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Just tried another project and created an ISO successfully but when I tried to burn a disc ISO I got this error message. Power calibration failed. This happened twice. The previous project I had no problem.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Have you tried to use an alternative BR burn program - like burnaware free or img-burn - with your ISO image? And if so, what was the result?

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Yes I did try those alternative Burn Programs but I got an error message. However I did use Corel again after I cleaned the Burner and it worked well. This was on a 25gb disc. I am waiting for some 50gb re-writable discs to arrive so I can try out on a larger project that I have done as I do now want to waste more discs. I will also again try to burn a project. Will keep you all informed.

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
So, probably the burner itself was the issue. Just how did you 'clean' it, as you mention??

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
years ago, there were cleaning disks for hard-case floppies - a disk with a rotating soft surface that you squirted a cleaning fluid onto, which when in the disk body cleaned the heads. They like the floppy are history now, and I've never seen anything like that for CD's.
You say you picked one up; where from, and a brand name??

Re: Unable to burn Bluray in VS 2022
Its called Moki Lens Cleaning Disc. These are DVD discs that have two brushes on either side that you use wet or dry as they come with a bottle of fluid. I used it dry but found out later that it was not suitable for Blyray Burners/Players. The Moki disc I got from JB HI-FI In Perth. I have not received the other Cleaning Disc which said that it was suitable for Bluray. This I found on the internet and do not know the make. Will let you know when I do receive it.

Is it possible to use an external Bluray Burner to burn your discs.
