Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Hello,
I am currently running VS Ultimate 2021 on my Windows 10 PC. I want to upgrade to VS Ultimate 2023. However, I want to install my current VS Ultimate 2021 on my new Windows 11 PC, then upgrade to the 2023.
Are there any proprietary licensing issues i will need to contend with? Should I assume I would first start by installing the original DVD (I own) of VS Ultimate 2020 on the Windows 11 PC, then upgrade to 2023 from there?
Any advise or instruction you can offer would be appreciated.

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Hi Ken
The EULA (End User Licence Agreement) allows us to install one version of Video Studio on one machine. It also says if that machine is faulty and I assume being replaced then we can install on a second machine assuming the program is removed from the original PC.
You mention having a disc to install the program, I would download the installation files from Alludo allowing me to install without the disc. This will give me the most upto date installation files.
Do you need both 2021 and 2023 installed on the new PC? We can only run one program at a time.
As you are upgrading from 2021 you should purchase 2023 now giving you any discount benefits that 2021 provide.
You will receive an e-mail with your serial numbers and a link to download the Web Installer and any other free packs that have been provided.
You should be able to pick up the e-mail using the new PC, otherwise Save and transfer these details to your new PC.
Using the new computer you can install the 2023 program without the need to install 2020 or 2021 unless you wish to have both programs on the new machine.
That is your choice, if so then you should install the oldest version first. Personally, I would install 2023 on its own, but then I don’t know your circumstances.
We can also download the Web Installers from Video Studio support here:-
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pages/download/
These are small files under 10KB
Installing the programs will ask for the serial number and prompt you to register, you should use the same E-mail address as used before, this will be the same address as your Alludo / Corel account.
Hope this helps

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Hello lata
You make it sound easy!!
Yes, my intention is to only run 2023 on the Windows 11 system. (Note "intention". I need to do some research to confirm the new machine meets the minimum requirements.)
So, if i understand, you're suggesting i download the 2023 version on the Windows 11 PC after installing the Web Installers from the link you posted. Then, somewhere in the install process, I will be recognized as having a EULA for 2020 and 2021 and allow the installation of 2023. When complete, I would uninstall 2021 from the Windows 10 machine.
Thanks for your help! I attempted to find this information using the Forum Search feature. But if you don't know the exact language, the subject can often be difficult to find. So, thanks for your help.
Ill be back if I have any additional questions. Have a great day!!

Yes it should be easy.
Running VS 2021 on the old PC to purchase 2023, that will give you the discount.
Details of the purchase provided by e-mail.
Open the e-mail on the new computer to download and install the 2023 program.
By default they are saved to a folder on our desktop, I change that location to a folder on my D Drive
Note the installation of 2022 and 2023 has changed a little where library samples and some templates are not installed, the only reason was to reduce the overall download size.
As you have worked with 2021, you may notice the limited library, not to worry the extra content is available from the Welcome Store-free options

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Hello again,
Well, long story short, I decided to install VS 2023 on my Windows 10 PC. So, I purchased the upgrade and executed the VideoStudio2023_Installer.exe from the confirmation email i received. I followed all the instructions and when the Main Program Download got to 2.33Gb out of 2.76Gb downloaded, I get an error message. See attached. I tried several times with the same result. I checked my internet connection and there are no issues.
So, I contacted Support who then issued a support number: "[Corel #4015293]: video studio 2023 - unable to install". The girl on the phone told me Tech Support will contact me via email. She was extremely difficult (for this old guy) to clearly understand, but when I asked her when I can expect a response from Tech Support, she could not tell me. So I'm open to suggestions. Otherwise, I can wait for tech support -- no worries.

I purchased "VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 - Upgrade".
I just rebooted my machine and tried again. Same result. It seems like Corel has a problem on their end???

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Lately, corel has been using mirror sites for distant locations, eg australia. If you use firefox, and have the flagfox plug-in installed, that flagfox plug in will tell you whether the download site is corel in the US or a mirror site somewhere else: the difference between the website address listing the download link, and the website address of the site doing the downloading.
Mirror sites in Oz also seem to be metering the download.
I mention this because a download problem may not be with the Corel systems.
Something you should check is that you have sufficient space available in your nominated download location for the whole of the download file. An alternative approach may be to use a plug-usb memory stick of sufficient capacity to save the download file to.

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Ken, sorry you are having problems but it should be easy
Try downloading the installation files again, this time one at a time
Delete the previous downloads or at least choose an empty destination folder
One page shows the option “complete” or ”custom”
Choose the Custom option selecting only the Main pack.
Does that install correctly.
Run the installer again to download and install the Contents pack
Again does that install.
Finally run the installer again to download and install the Bonus Features

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
DavidK -- thank you for this information albeit confusing. I don't understand why Corel would use a site that meters a download. That seems anti-productive. Also, I have a 1Tb hard drive with about 390Gb of space remaining.
lata -- hello and thank you for this information. I am unable to fully download the installation files at all. So, ill try using the custom install and cherry pick the files as you suggest. If what DavidK is saying is correct and the download is being metered, this selective process may work.
As they say: Stay Tuned!
Thanks Fellas!

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
No luck. The download stopped at the exact same spot. See attached screenshot.
Untitled 3.png shows install files and locations and the progress bar.
Interesting to point out is the file folder placed on the desktop, when opened, shows a file named: VideoStudio_Install.exe (see attached Untitled 4.png). However, the file from the link in the confirmation email that downloaded to my Downloaded File Folder is titled: VideoStudio_Installer.exe. "...install vs. Installer.exe" if that makes any difference.
I think whats also important to point out is the download stops at the exact same spot regardless of what i have selected to have installed from the "Custom Install" panel.
Is it possible to simply buy the VS 2023 on disk? This is getting quite frustrating and time consuming.

Re: Install VS Ultimate on 2nd Computer
Hi Ken
As for the Installer files names, yes they can vary, to be sure you have the 2023 version the file size is 7359Kb irrespective of its name.
I will upload the 2023 main program to my one drive, once done you cam download
If that works then the problem is probably an alludo one
I will send you a Private Message with a link when i have completed the upload.

Hi Ken
I have also tested the download procedure with the same results and error message, as such I have reported to the Alludo development team.
