Too many problems made worse by Corel Tech Support

Post by SJS »

Today I followed the directions from Corel PSP support and now do not have PSP 2023 at all. So cannot access many of my pspimage files (cannot open psp2023 pspimage files with PSP2022).

After opening a ticket about problems with UNDO I was advised to run the clean utility and reinstall PSP 2023 from the download link I was given in an email.

And stupidly I followed directions, only to hit an Invalid Serial Number error on the install. My purchase of PSP 2023 was an upgrade, and I used the 2022 serial number to install the upgrade in November 2022.

I reported the failed install serial number problem via return email six hours ago. After four hours with no answer I opened a Chat session to request help. No help was provided: I was told the original support person would get back to me by email, please wait a few hours. I had been waiting... four hours at that point.

I tried again, asking for a valid download with a working serial number, but was just told that they would message the original support that my ticket was "urgent".

So now six hours later, no software, and I probably won't be hearing from them today.

Do you still have the download of the Upgrade version? If it is from Cleverbridge -- the usual sales point of these programs -- it should contain a serial number. Just because you bought an upgrade doesn't mean that the 2022 serial number should work on it. Each installation of PSP is a full program with its own serial number. This has been the case for quite a few versions now, and the fact that you still have a working 2022 is evidence that it has not been upgraded or overwritten by 2023.

Yeah, I think you're just using the wrong serial number. Either check your email or check your Corel account and get the 2023 version of the number.

However, on top of that, if you want I do have an old program that converts the PSP FIle version # (literally just the single number that represents the version) inside the file format. Making newer file formats readable by older PSP versions. So long as you aren't using something truly incompatible within the file.

I am using the serial number that is displayed online in my registered products for the 2023 upgrade. Customer support did not provide a new serial number OR any help since the email 20 hours ago, instructing me to clean & reinstall via the new download. I have tried a few times, very carefully checking the only serial number that I have. And yes, it is different from the 2022 install! That confusion came from the date, year 2022!

So anyway I still cannot install 2023. I can get by using PSP 2022 for the weekend, but I am unhappy with the lack of support. Perhaps only one? person there who can actually do anything, so cannot cover the number of serious problems. The Chat support line people cannot or will not help.

My original upgrade download was only available for 30 days the Corel site. The Cleanup utility deleted my local copy of the install files as well as the installed application, as I failed to unzip to a different location!

No help yet, I tried a phone call but got the same response: just wait to hear from the the support person who was originally helping me. And who has not responded for some 20+ hours.

But I did find my own temporary workaround.

I just installed the PSP 2023 Trial version which should give Corel Support 30 days to help me!

Sad that no one in Customer Support suggested that option!

f you haven't already done so, we recommend that you reach out to Corel's support team again to request immediate assistance with your installation issue. You can try contacting them by phone or through their live chat support, as these channels may offer a quicker response time than email.

Additionally, we suggest that you have your purchase information and serial number readily available when you contact their support team, as this will help them quickly identify and resolve the issue.

If you still do not receive a satisfactory resolution to your issue, you may want to consider contacting Corel's customer service department to escalate the matter further.

Yes but that does not seem to create a "real" registered version. Online under Product Status as an "authenticated" 30 day trial, with the serial number I entered (which is from my 2022 to 2023 upgrade that I purchased 11/2022).

And in PSP on my end, I still see the blue "Purchase" button at upper right.

Thank you for making me try again: I found the right place to enter a separately purchased serial number. When I entered it, PSP 2023 closed abruptly without a message or warning, but when I started it again, the Purchase button was gone! I may be back in business, no thanks to Tech Support.
