Saving and restoring clips

I have a need to split an approximately 20 minute video in to numerous clips. The intent is to trim this video down to 3 minutes as a summary and a teaser for the longer version. I am still new to the software so forgive if this is explained elsewhere that I could not find. What I want to do is remove some of the clips that I have split up and check the final length of the resulting video. After reviewing my edited version I want to be able to restore back in some of the clips I removed so as the perfect the final results. I have been able to drag a clip up to the folder window but do not seem to understand how to drag that back in. What am I missing?
