2023 fixed for 4k monitors?

Post by fatfreek »

Several years ago I bought then uninstalled v. 2020 because the scale numbers were too teeny to make out on my 4k monitor.
(here's the thread that discussed the problem. "2021 fixed for 4k monitors?" Ken Berry confirmed it had not been fixed.

Well, I'm in the process of installing my next generation desktop, win 11, to replace my win 10 machine. However, It looks as if my license to PSP 2019 won't be valid since I can't find a 2019 version to download where I can paste my license information.

Short of that, I may want to buy a new license for 2023. However, no need to buy that till they get the scale numbers fixed. Except for that scaling issue, I'll probably buy another older and cheaper 2018 or 2019 version.

Any suggestions?

I can't help with your 4K monitor question but you can download previous versions of PSP from Corel.

I'm not sure what to say to you. I think they have made an effort to fix the problem, but in part it will depend on what size monitor you are getting. I assume, though, it is going to be a 4K one to match the computer.

When you first install and open PSP 2023, things still look small. But under User Interface along the menu line along the top left of the work area are the controls, which have been there for a few versions now, to increase the size of fonts, nodes etc. And when you go into View > Ruler, that is also now readable where before it was miniscule. I did not have to go this time into right clicking the desktop PSP icons and selecting Properties > Compatibility and then pressing the button for 'Change high DPI Settings' and adjusting them on the next page either.

So that sounds good and certainly works for me. But just remember I have my monitor permanently set to 150% zoom, and I still have my 32" screen which gives me a slightly bigger view anyway.

All I can suggest is that you load the trial version of PSP 2023 on your new computer to see how things look.

First, a big THANK YOU to you, Kathy. That download link did the trick. Understanding that v2019 was probably programmed for win 10, the win 11 installation windows were kinda mixed up at times, but I was able to make it happen. Finally, paste my serial number, took a few gulps -- and it worked.

Second, to Ken. I revisited User Interface and adjusted fonts, nodes, etc to Large. I can now read all to an acceptable degree. How did I miss those adjustments years ago? Who knows, maybe I'll go for the 2023 after all although this 82 year old can get by with 2019 just fine.
