I recently deleted Jasc9 and since then I am not able to save pspimages as an image they save as a psp icon.
A few of my existing pspimages still show as an image but the majority have turned into the icon.
A system restore didn't/doesn’t work - it comes up with an error that I have tried to fix many times in the past
Using 2021 I went through the reset options of Kathy in the sticky but that wasn’t the problem.
I think the problem is when deleting 9 it also deleted the default file format associations as they didn’t appear in the default apps - so I reinstalled 9 but only jasc files were restored so I deleted it again.
I decided to delete and reinstall 2021 - my least used version - thinking it would add back the missing file extensions, but I cannot delete it - I get a partial window that I cannot do anything with. Not sure why that is. I tried to override the existing program but as it is already installed it wouldn’t.
I downloaded a prog called Revo Uninstall to force 2021 to uninstall but I am hesitant to use it as I am unsure what else it might uninstall from other PSP versions. Out of interest I tried to delete my other versions of PSP and got the same partial window.
After searching Google, I found I could add in the missing default file extensions, so using my laptop as a guide for the file extensions to add, I then rebooted and found different psp versions had associated with the ‘new’ extensions, but didn’t bring back my images. I went through and linked them all first to 2020 then to 2021 - nothing changed.
Maybe I should just put up with the frustration and save anything with layers as a PSD and a png copy to see what it is.
A thought just occurred to me - maybe I could download a trial version of 2023 - I don’t really want it as I use a lot of filters etc that are not supported in 64 - but it may just add in what I need to get my images back. Not sure what happens after the trial period ends though.
Sorry for the long post. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Re: Unable to save pspimages as an image
Thank you Jean-Luc - that worked beautifully! I appreciate you responding
Unfortunately when re installing I got to the end of the wizard where you have to sign in or put in the registration or whatever it requires - that half window comes up and I cannot finish the installation. I stopped both windows defender and my anti virus program to see if that was preventing it but it made no difference.

Re: Unable to save pspimages as an image
Thank you again for that Jean-Luc - interesting reading.
I decided to create another user account on my PC and right now 2021 just finished downloading!!. I have absolutely no idea why it is working on a different account on the same PC - obviously there is something corrupt in mine. I will have to check the settings of both accounts to see what is different.
Back to my original problem and post, while the file associations are now OK on the new account and I am able to see images again instead of icons - nothing has changed on my account - so it looks like I will be moving accounts.
Thank you again!

Re: Unable to save pspimages as an image
UPDATE - Since I had a new 2021 clean install loaded and working nicely on a new account (also working on my main account), I went back to the default file associations under my original account and changed them to 2021 - hey presto my pspimages are all back as images!
I will leave my new account there in case of any future issues where I need to download PSP as the half window problem still exists but now I have a way around it I am happy.
