Hi folks, I've been meaning to ask this for some time, when I press the space bar to start the timeline, it scrolls for some little time before starting, it's been annoying me for some years, Is there any way to get this to instant start.
Also, on all my other editing programmes I can inch left or right by using the left and right arrows on the keyboard, VideoStudio never has done, is there a method to achieve this

Space bar - What do you mean "it scrolls for some little time", do you mean there is a pause before play starts.
Do you use Smart Proxy files, these files do improve timeline playback.
To nudge the timeline one frame at a time, hit keyboard F for forward and D to nudge back one frame, that is D

Re: Pressing start with the space bar, and inching L and R
Thank you for your reply Trevor, I'll have a play with the Proxy files, as yet nothing seems to change, and thank you for pointing out the F and D for one frame at a time, it's not as convenient as the left and right arrows, I am just so used to using them my finger goes straight to them, I like VideoStudio for a lot of things but I can't work as quick with it as the other Video Editing programmes I use.
Another thing that is different, The tracks below the video timeline are the ones that the clips (Titles) play over the main timeline, all the other programmes it's the tracks above that you put the Titles on, not that it makes any difference once you're used to it.
Does starting the timeline Hesitate on everyone else's

Re: Pressing start with the space bar, and inching L and R
FWIW my video starts playing immediately I touch the space bar. I have just tried this with a number of clips ranging from standard definition, through high definition and ending with 4K. All of them started immediately. That being said, I rarely ever use this method of starting the video. I guess I am more of a mouse click man.thordell wrote:Does starting the timeline Hesitate on everyone else's

Thank you for the reply Ken, it's strange mine has always done it in VideoStudio, the other editing programmes I use are fine, it's just irritating

Inching L and R using arrow keys
If you select the digital clock below the preview screen, choose the seconds, now using the Up / Down arrow keys will move the playhead / cursor 1 second

Thank you Trevor, That's something I didn't know about, if I could now stop this hesitation on starting from the space bar I'd be home and dry, i can work alright, it's just a bit annoying

It's all down to your complex videos and your system.
I do have some "hesitation", looks as less then half a second.
*Unfortunately keyboard shortcuts is VS's biggest drawback.

Re playback hesitation.....
What type of video are you using, right click a clip for properties what are they?
If you were to use the Lake-Sample does playing that have the delay.
We mentioned Smart Proxy, although this may be enabled, have proxy files been created, view settings Profile file Manager, the proxy files have a similar name as the source video.
A small double icon shows on the clip when proxies are being used.

My Video clips are Pal HDMV, video type H264, I tried the Lake Sample and it, and it was the same, still hesitated.
I think I'll have a play around with Proxy files and see if i can improve things, if not I'll just have to live with it, If I have any luck i'll report back, Thank you for your help
