I just tried to add (click and drag) the IP-01 split screen template to an existing project I'm working on and VS became unresponsive. I had to end the VS task from Task manager. Is there a 'special' way to do this step? In a new clean project I can click and drag IP-01 to the timeline.
Observation - I'm starting to use VS2022 for various projects and what I'm sensing is that VS2022 has allot of new 'bells and whistles' over VS2018 but I can't use them because they appear to be buggy.

Placed a 2018 VSP in 2022 timeline, dragged Split Screen IP-01 to timeline, template installed into timeline correctly, tried all the other templates, no issues.

VS "is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get"..F Gump
But why did it work for you and not me? I'm not having much luck at the moment, I'm having issues with certain transitions as well. https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69867. I would prefer to spend my precious editing time being creative and not having regularly debug stuff.
I guess my work-around in this case is to create a new project, insert the split screen template and clips then render and import into my main project.

Re: Trying to IP-01 template - VS hangs
From Task Manager, where you see Not Responding what does the CPU usage show, if its indicating say 30% then the program is working away in the background, It may take a while but the program should recover.
Adding IP-01 to an existing project, Is this a problem with the timelines being slow to refresh, I seem to get a problem when inserting “IP-01” for the first time, then a second attempt the timeline automatically does a “fit project to timeline” with no delay.

Re: Trying to IP-01 template - VS hangs
I tried it again this morning after shutting down the desktop last night and now it works as expected. I could insert the IP-01 template immediately, no issues.

Re: Trying to IP-01 template - VS hangs
However, it inserted the template at the start of the timeline. I tried to move the template along the timeline to a new location (which I could) but the clips on the main Video track remained in place, so how do I move the clips on the main video track to make space for the template?

Re: Trying to Insert IP-01 template - VS hangs
I can only insert the template at either the start or end of the timeline. I found that if I insert the template at the end of the timeline it will avoid the creating the void/gap on the main video track at the beginning of the timeline. From there I inserted a solid black background into the timeline (and adjusted it's duration accordingly) where I wanted the template to sit, then I moved the 4 template placeholders to the desired location.
Is there a simply way to do this?

Re: Trying to Insert IP-01 template - VS hangs
Hi
I would normally add a template to the beginning of my project adding mid stream is not as easy.
But if you wish to use the split screen templates then there is the Split Screen Template Creator to use.
By adding the images in the creator it provides a completed montage in the media library
From there we can drag to the timeline line any other project file.
Hold shift to flatten and we can drop to the top timeline, anywhere.
Please note we cannot open the templates library Split Screen clips in the editor, there is a workround.
It’s a little difficult to explain, the Split Screen templates are different to the ones we create and react differently to being used.
Do this
1 / From a new project drag the IP-01 to the timeline but hold Shift to drop as a single clip.
2 / Right click for locate on computer- this finds the Montage files
3 / Drag these files to the Media Library, create a new library page for these, Remember Media Library not Templates. These clips are different to the templates library.
4 / Now double click IP-01 opens the Templates editor
5 / Using the folder tree to the left drag images to the screen
6 / When Complete choose OK
7 / returns to the Media library with a new montage
8 / drag to timeline holding Shift to drop as a single clip.
I am not available for the next 4 hours
