About folders in Library How To.

Post by sheng-si »

I started with a project and made a folder with images in the library on the right.
Later I started a new project. And made also a few folders with images for it.
----- the image here is a partly recreation of what I had in the library -----
Question VS folders.jpg
Then I saved the second project. Also made a MP4 video file from it.
I thought that with saving the project also the accompanying folders were saved.
So I delete those folders in the library. There were just 3, but I knew when I had completely finished that project there should be about 14 folders for THAT project.

And I started some other little projects. Each with a folder with images.
Then I thought I get so much folders I have to start searching where my folders are gone in the library.

So knewing all projects are saved. I delete the folders in the library.
A week later I opened that project and saw no folders.

Is that the normal behaviuour of VS 2022 ??

Yes this is normal

The folders within the library are in no way associated with any project VSP.
The library folders are simply a quick way to access the files on the hard drive.

It may be an advantage to have library folders associated with our projects but that has never been the way Video Studio works.

There is an option to export the library creating a copy that can be imported at a later date, I do not know if that would help.

I found that and I am thinkig to gone use it together with if necessary:
To automatically locate and restore links to media files
• Click File > Relink.

To export a library
1Click Settings > Library Manager > Export library and specify a folder location where you want to save your Library.
2Click OK.
