Application Data

Post by Moerak »

I have a small problem with VS9
The program creates a lot of data in my "C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Ulead Systems" directory.

My profile directory is synchronised each time I log on or off, but only 15 MB of profile space is allowed at the our profile server. VS9 creates about 20 MB of data in the profile directory, so synchronising is no longer possible, and I keep getting these annoying warning that I have exceeded my profile space.

I changed the working directory in the program preferences, but this only moves the "Ulead Systems" data from "My Documents".
Also the registry does not contain any references for the "Application Data".

Is there any way to store this data is another directory outside my profile space?

hmmm Over 20 views and no repsonse yep.
Maybe the problem isn't clear enough or it is a tough one.

After installing VS9 you will find files in 4 different locations:

1. "C:\program files\Ulead System" This is the default install directory in the setup program.

2. "C:\program files\Common Data\Ulead Systems" Here are some common files files like codecs and filters.

3. "C:\Documents and settings\[user]\My Documents\Ulead Systems" This is the Working Folder. You can change this in the preferences.

So far so good, but now the last one:

4. "C:\Documents and settings\[user]\Application Data\Ulead Systems" This is the one I would like to move. "Application Data" is part of a users profile space. Since only 15MB of profile space is allowed over here (I don't make the rules, just have to live with it) and Ulead wants to store over 20MB in this directory, I want to move this VS9 data to another location. But how??
There's nothing in the setup, preferences or registry to alter this location.

Thanx in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Moerak

You may be right it may be a tough one.
Unfortunately I cannot help you, but was not ignoring you either.
I checked the location on my machine and it compares with your set up.

The only suggestion is to contact Ulead Technical Support for their help.

Hope you find a solution
