Add Transition to Favorites - CPU hits 100%
I just noticed that during the Edit process when I add a transition to My Favourites my CPU goes from 20% to 100% and stays there. I have to Save and Exit the project for the CPU to return to normal levels. Any ideas?

Re: Add Transition to Favorites - CPU hits 100%
I have isolated the issue. There is a TOD clip followed by the flashback(1) transition to a AVI clip. When I preview that section and it crosses over the transition the CPU goes from 20% to 98% and stays there. If I replace the flashback (1) transition with a Push transition I have no issue. Any ideas why this is happening? BTW the transition I added to My Favourites was the flash transition when the CPU spiked to 100%.

Re: Add Transition to Favorites - CPU hits 100%
It's happened again in another section of the timeline. This time its a 'Turning page' transition between a TOD and AVI clip. I've waited 4mins and the CPU was still at 100% so I exited. I removed the 'Turning page' transition and replaced it with a 'cross-fade' transition and VS behaved itself.
Do I need to wait longer? Will it eventually settle down? What causes this situation to occur? Using too many transitions? Using too many different types of transitions? Any insights?
Update 1 - I then used a 'Camera Movement' transition at the point where the issue was occurring and VS had no issue with that transition. The majority of transitions I'm using in the project are 'Camera Movement', with only minimal other types of transitions, so is the issue that the different types of transitions don't play well together?
Update 2 - I created a new VSP with only a handful of clips, a mixture of TOD and AVI files. I used the offending transtions mentioned above and couldn't replicate this issue.

Re: Add Transition to Favorites - CPU hits 100%
Hi
I was going to suggest that its a combination of the Mod at 1920 and AVi at 720.
Except for your last reply Update 2.
Clutching at straws..........
When we add transitions the videos are overlapped with the transition affecting the overlap, all clips upstream are moved to the left ( by the duration of the transition) sometimes this may take some time
During this time the program is unresponsive.
For me working with MTS / Mpeg2 takes noticeable longer than say working with Mpeg4. although not long enough to cause a problem.
How long is your project?
In preferences what have you set for General - Clip Display mode
It takes longer to refresh the timelines when set to Thumbnail only, try using File Name only.

7 minsHow long is your project?
Preferences are set to Thumbnail & File Name. I changed it to File Name Only and re-inserted the offending transition then Previewed the project but as it passed over the transition the CPU hit 100% and stayed there. In preferences what have you set for General - Clip Display mode
