Hi all
Just wondering if any of you know of a output setting that will work for playing MP4 video files on a LG tv? (LG-55NANO866NA)
The sound works but no video playing.
The files played on my older LG tv (should have kept it I supose) but not the new one.
Thanks
Pete

Re: Output setting for LG TV
It may not be the mp4 which is the problem, but how the USB device you have the video on has been formatted which might be the problem. Some flat panel TVs cannot play the video when the USB device is formatted as NTFS. So try formatting the device with FAT32 and then storing the mp4 on it. Then try that on the LG.

Hi Ken
Thanks for your reply.
USB sticks are formatted as FAT32.
I have been doing a lot of looking around on the net about this and most places recommend using a program to convert the videos files to play on the LG TVs but none of their suggestions work.
I will try LG and see what they have to say.
Thanks
Pete

I would have thought Mpeg4 H.264 would be the option as its probably the most widely used HD format.
Mpeg2 should work as that is used for DVD discs but only standard definition.
MTS (AVCHD) types for HD worked for me but only when I re-named the video to use MPG as its extension.
What settings are you actually using to render the videos.
You could add several short videos having different formats to the usb to see which the TV recognises.

Re: Output setting for LG TV
Just got off the phone to LG they tell me I need to formate the usb with the correct codec??
When I asked what the correct codec is I was told that is something they cannot help with as it depends what codec the USB is formated in, and told me to contact Micrsoft.
Very helpfull.

Check that the USB is formatted correctly to Fat 32
as a test -- If you add images (Jpeg’s) to the USB, does the TV see those images, if yes then the USB is ok.
Now try using the Lake Sample from the library, right click the sample for Locate On Computer.
Copy the file to your USB
Does that play on TV

Re: Output setting for LG TV
Thanks for your reply Trevor.
I tried what you say but no joy.
With the USB in the TV it shows me the thumbnails of all the files, it will play a MP4 but I only get the sound, with a .jpg I see the thumbnail but just a black screen when I open it.
I tried the USB in another LG TV and it works fine.
I got back in touch with LG via the live chat and they seem to think it’s a fault with the TV?
I have a repair guy coming out on Wednesday.
Fingers crossed!!
