Keeping original size of jpeg images.

Post by Rafalski »

Hi there!!

I`m trying to add some jpeg pictures to a movie but every single time I import verticaly taken pictures, they all are stretched out  . In the source windows they all are fine but preview window screws`em up and the final effect is also bad.
I tried to change some settings in preferences - nothing. I looked at tutorial regarding aspect ratio on Ulead website - nothing.
Does anybody has an idea how to resolve this problem or what setting should I apply to some images in photo editing program so they won`t get stretched out?

Thanks

This is a commonly asked question and you would have found the answer n times if you had searched this forum. Apply a still moving path and check the Keep aspect ratio box (p. 203 of your manual item 7 and p. 205).

Hi Devil! Thanks for your advice. I have another question though. What about creating a picture show in video aditor and adding it to a movie ? I saw tutorial for that on ulead website and they didn`t use a moving path . How can I keep aspect ratio in the picture show?

Thanks

I haven't seen the tutorial, but I'd guess they edited the individual pics in PhotoImpact 10, which has the possibility of a 1-click solution to trim and resize them (with colour adjustment for video, as well), so they needed no adjustment within MSP.

Hi Devil!!

I got no luck with keeping aspect ratio. I have opened jpeg file in Video Paint 7.0 and saved it in .uvp. After that I imported this file as video file to Video Editor and it also got stretched out

Any advice? Is there any way to import a picture show from Ulead`s DVD Picture Show software to MSP7 ?

OK. I think I got it. I used Ulead`s DVD Picture Show 4 to put all my pics together (DVDPS4 keeps aspect ratio) and I saved it as video file in .avi format. MSP7 should take care of the rest.

When I make a slide show with verical pictures, I right click on the timeline clip and select "Media Source Options...". I make sure that "Frame Based" is selected for the "frame type", "Source frame size" for the "Display aspect ratio" setting, and "Keep aspect ratio" for the "Stretch mode" setting. I have had good luck this way. I'm not sure if the moving path technique is better, but this seems easier to me.

I forgot to mention that in order for this to work, you must select the "Perform non-square pixel rendering" checkbox from the "Video Editor" tab of the "Project Settings" dialog box.

Video Studio 9 does a great job with pretty much any sized photo. Always maintains the correct aspect ration, always comes out great. It has saved me a lot of time on photo slide shows. I now create an AVI in VS9 and then put it into MSP7 to finish.
