problematic issue has arisen. multiple images not opening in one screen

i dont know how this happened.

when i try to open multiple images they open separately, not together in one psp widow,,,and there's a "browse to folder" screen. yes i know it's a very old program, but i like the simplicity. i also have a copy of corel pro x6 that i almost never use

I don't have anything that old but on newer versions if you go to the Window menu and untick "tabbed documents" your images will open in one window.

It's something that exists in later versions of PSP. Don't know if it's there in PSP5. At the top of the program, does it have menus like File, Edit, View, etc.? If so, and I don't see why it wouldn't, is there one labeled "Window"?

I feel like there are other topics about how older versions that supported opening multiple copies of PSP would occasionally do this, but I don't recall if there was ever a solution. Other than going File -> Open inside the current copy of PSP.
