I would like to convert a few png files into preset PSP shapes.
I did it several years ago, but can't for the life of me, remember how I did it.
I am thinking I used a 3rd party tool?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Re: Convert png to PSP Shape (preset) - PSP 2022
Preset Shape or Picture Tube? Because a PNG is a raster image, a Preset Shape is a vector image. These are not compatible. And PSP doesn't have a raster to vector conversion option built-in. Worst yet, PSP really only properly imports the vector formats WMF or EMF. Almost all others get converted to a raster on import so the third party tool would have had to been able to export to one of those formats.
Inkscape, for instance, has a vector tracing tool for raster images and can save to WMF.
Inside PSP you have two options I can think of. Manually trace the raster with the vector tools.
or
I do have one other option and that is to use some scripts I made which make use of the same engine Inkscape uses called PoTrace.
Selection To Path Script - https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69479 - This script lets you make a selection and then turn that selection into a vector path letting you choose the colors after it's been converted.
and
Vectorize Raster - https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69491 - This script attempts to simplify your image to a few colors, and then creates a selection based on each color, converting each selection to a vector shape and hopefully creating a decent enough replica of your image, but it's SLOW. Inkscape is much faster.
Of course if you meant something like PIcture Tube or Paint Brush or Pattern. Those would make a lot more sense. As most of those can simply be exported or saved to a specific folder.

The extension shows as "PspShape" - I can either choose to draw it as a vector or not.
It's a very basic shape (the one I posted is the example that I had done previously).
I will take a look at your scripts when I have some more time.
Thank you.
I guess I am going to have to keep digging and see how I did it last time. It's a very basic shape (the one I posted is the example that I had done previously).

I couldn't get either of these downloads to work? The wheel just keeps spinning...it doesn't even get to the download option.LeviFiction wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 3:42 pm Selection To Path Script - https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69479 - This script lets you make a selection and then turn that selection into a vector path letting you choose the colors after it's been converted.

I just clicked on the Google Drive link (opened in a in-cognito tab so my current login doesn't matter) and they came up just fine. Do you have any sort of blocking software in your browser?

Weird...I just tried again and they both work. I tried several times before posting, with no luck.LeviFiction wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 8:07 pm I just clicked on the Google Drive link (opened in a in-cognito tab so my current login doesn't matter) and they came up just fine. I will take a look at them now. Thank you.
