DVD Freeze-Up
We are experiencing a problem with DVD's that we burn freezing and/or skipping upon playback in a DVD player. It's been suggested that we look at burning them at 1X, however our version of Ulead Video Studio 7.0 and Movie Factory 2.0 only allows for 2X or higher. Is there a way to reconfigure to get it down to 1X? Help!!!
Another option, if you have not tried it yet, is another brand of media. I know that I have experienced freeze-ups burning all the way down to 1x, and then other brands where there are no freeze-ups after burning at 8x. There are certain burners that are picky about the brand of media being used. I have also seen the brand of set-top DVD player be the culprit. Have you tried the same burned media in a different player. For this I have found, as have many of my friends, that the lower cost players are more tolerent of different media. Now I have mostly cheap DVD players around the house. They have become a disposable commodity.
Hope that helps a little.

I had the same problem I changed to Philips DVD+ RW or DVD + R and must meet your burner specifications? I have burned about 8 DVD's and not one flaw.
2x burn speed should be slow enough for any DVD production and burner. If you are still having this problem you should try a different blank media.
A useful database of dvd burning results can be found at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters this helped me find the best media to use with my burner and has greatly reduced the number of "bad burns" I experience.
