Hi,
I have a recurring problem with Video Studio Ultimate 2020. Very often when I edit a video the sound and video is no longer synchronised - it starts being slightly out of synch and gets progressively worse until by the end of a six minute video it's about half a second out of synch. The base video is fully in synch - it's when it's edited the the final render is out of synch. What is causing this? Is there a fix?

Re: Audio slides out of synchronisation with video when editing
I would think it is the video that is the problem, could be a variable frame rate or a codec that Video Studio doesn’t not like.
If so then the easiest way would be to use a video converter to render the video to a more editable format.
The guys here tend to recommend the use of HandBrake or XMedia Recode.
OK--first
If you right click the clip from the timeline and select properties, what are they?
When you add your video to a NEW project you should see a message asking to match the project settings, yes to this and your project properties should match the video.
From Share – choose Same as Project Settings or Same as First Clip ( options top left, a little greyed out, place a tick in the box)
Additional thing to try…..
From Share – to the bottom of the panel, deselect Smart Render, then Start
And if that does not fix the audio its back to Handbrake
