Adobe very detailed photos and PaintSop does not?

Post by Lijpeijp »

problem with photos from Adobe Photoshop these photos are very detailed you can see the stitching of a black T-shirt collar.
But when I load that photo into PaintShop pro 2021, I lose all these details and the stitching of the black T-shirts becomes stained.
How is this possible?

Does it happen with all photos?
Could you post a side-by-side comparison screen capture?
Is the image RAW, JPG, or PSD?

Open the image in PSP and take a screenshot of a specific area zoomed in "Save screenshot as PNG not jpg to preserve quality). Then open the image in Photoshop and zoom into the same area. Take a screenshot. Now either upload the two screenshots or combine them into one image inside either PSP or PS.

Taking a screen shot with a camera is irrelevant.
Take a "real" screen shot, I mean "computer made". Use the Print Screen key on your keyboard.

Your Windows 10 also has a simple and hopefully easy to use "Snipping Tool" which does good screen shots...

I now find out when I zoom in on the collar in PaintShop the collar doesn't look right but when I load them into Gimp the collar looks fine so PaintShop doesn't display the views of a zoomed photo correctly.
Gimp doesn't have this problem and that can be seen in the photos posted earlier.
These are phone photos but they show the difference well.

But if you don't have a solution then never mind then I'm just using Gimp now.
In any case, thanks for responding.

What you can also do is crop the image (the same as your "screenshots") and post it here as a PNG. We can then check with our versions if we see the same thing as you.

What zoom level were you at? Technically anything above 100 shouldn't be a problem.

Also, if you open in GIMP or Photoshop and save the image as a PNG or TIFF file and then bring it into PSP does it do the same?

I don't see any difference between PSP 2023, Gimp 2.1, Paint, and Lightroom at a zoom level of 200%.

I did another test and the photo doesn't look nice in PaintShop pro like on the phone photo I posted earlier.
But I now find out if I Save the photo and then open it in a viewer, the photo just looks good at the collar of the t-shirt.
so it's the PaintShop view that is not displaying correctly on my Laptop.
And with Gimp and Luminar Neo I don't have that problem?

Can you do exactly the same as I did: open the SAME image in PSP and Gimp, set the same zoom ratio, minimize the PSP and Gimp window to display them side by side as shown in my screenshot, and take a screenshot of your screen to post it here? In the pictures you took with the smartphone, I don't see anything. As Ken wrote in his December 28 post, there is a screenshot tool in Windows 10.
