Ok, yes, now when I start the program it isn't asking me if I want the update. I am pretty positive I never pushed the update button, but now that it isn't asking me, I wonder if it updated itself.
I will try the scissors to clip. I finally got two done using multi-trim. Working, that multi-trim is really nice and convenient when things are working smoothly, but it either shuts down the whole program, or, in the last case, the video wouldn't play smoothly in the multi-trim mode which made it hard to try to select where to cut in and out.
If I am making videos for USB sticks, when I go to share, what should I select for the best quality? Mpeg-4?

Re: Low Quality DVD
Hi
Video Studio Version, please go to Settings About your version should be 25.1.0.472, ( the 1 indicates SP1)
If you see 25.2.0.566 then Service Patch 2 ( SP2) is installed, we would advise that you re-install the program.
Silent Crashes are difficult to identify, some users found deselecting the Acceleration options helped in reducing crashes, go to Preferences (F6) Performance tab – deselect the 2 Enable hardware ….Acceleration options
Reboot the program to set this choice. Does that reduce instances of crashes.
Multi Trim, I do not use that option and like Kens advice use the scissors and trim bars - mark-in and mark-out brackets to remove unwanted frames.
Video formats for USB, this really depends on what the TV will support
Your videos are using MTS video types
1 / If you do share – Same as First Clip then the video will be rendered using the same settings as your original video retaining the same quality.
Rendering time acceptable about real time.
If the video will not play on the TV then change the files extension, rename the clip from 00027.m2t to 00027.mpg
2 / upscale the Motion Transport format MTS by changing the Project Properties to use AVCHD default profile AVCHD (1920 x 1080, 60i, 18Mbps)
Share Same as Project will create a 00027.m2t video using 1920 x 1080, this video will be bluray compliant.
Rendering times a little slow, i believe converting from 1440 to 1920.
3 / MP4 is probably the most used format try Share MPEG4 default profile
MPEG-4 AVC (1920 x 1080, 30p, 15Mbps)
Of course we are now changing the frame order from Interlaced to Frame Based.
I have just tried the above using your 00027 sample which seems ok to me.
although rendering was much slower slower than the mts options.
If the quality is poor then you would have to modify the profile to use interlacing..
My choice would be option 1 because of the rendering times.
As mentioned you may be best recording in 1920 x 1080 resolutions a higher quality video format.
You can easily test all options to see which is most suitable for your ordinance.

Re: Low Quality DVD
For the multi-trim crash problem, unchecking the boxes in the Preferences, Enable hardware ... Acceleration options helped, no more crashing, so the multi trim is working! Thanks a million!
