The Corel tutorials are not too bad, some of them are dated, but at least helpful, but never inspire. https://learn.corel.com/video-tutorials ... tutorials/ Don't get me wrong, but there is so much you can do that is not really surfaced in the "demo-only" style of their tutorials. I have found this happy fellow has a lot more of a "hands-on" to the tutorials https://www.youtube.com/@gripps2211 . And very little other people putting out a lot of content. A few niche explainers by other youtubers, but very little else. This channel has a few old ones that are decent : https://www.youtube.com/@freedomearthmoon1
Some inspiration here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JGoOBZz38U , but not that much more?
For example, keen to get idea on how to reliably create static masks and transitions that don't look amateur. I've used a few Vitascene transition masks, but I have no idea what I'm doing with that tool I cannot seem to control or modify a vitascene because I just don't understand what the tool is doing at all, any tutorials on what it really is for starters? I'm often finding myself with 7 or 8 overlay tracks just to get something to look good, and nobody in the tutorials is doing that. I'm sure people are at different levels of skill, myself I only recently started using blend modes and LUT filters to make masks and colorizing easier. I don't have a YT with subscribers, I just like to create good looking videos, which vary from 2 hour long almost static videos right down to 60 seconds.
Any more decent resources for inspiration and tips out there?

"reliably create static masks and transitions that don't look amateur"
What type of work you do?
It's all about personal aesthetics. A basic rule will be that there is not a need for a special transition if the content is good/clear enough.
Have you explore VS's Mask's trans? they are best of and non other good NLE has ones such so ez. I use them a lot on titles instead of just fades.

Re: Inspiration and tutorials
Thanks @asik1, yes. I did not want to be biased at all in how I shared those links.
To me some other video edit platforms seem to have a load more instructional materials. I've only used HitFilm-express for a short clip or two so I've not use trainer clips targeting other programs widely. Hence more material that we have not pointed at above already would be great. I have tried using some tips from Vegas tutorials, but unless the instructor is explaining things well, it's not easy to replicate and then learn everything from them. Are there any good program agnostic places to go learn? I guess I just need practise, but with a critic to tell me when I make a mess or when I do a thing well.
Will definitely watch that tutorial. As for your question, nope, just messing about. I record everything on a very vanilla smartphone. I got a H4Zoom last year, and that's it. I DONT have a Camera at all. Sometimes I get asked to convert iphone or go-pro (I hate them) footage into a school play video, which is a bigger ask than people think. So that's the kind of thing, I cannot bother to always get permission to upload video with children to Youtube. So seldom bother, but that is probably my most serious videos which I spend a whole weekend solidly editing. For example this terribly short clip more recently directly after Her majesty the queen passed away. I made a really nice static mask this time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MWn1usgVqs but it actually looked much nicer on the first render, I struggle with over-tweaking sometimes. And often wonder if all one needs is some critique, but without getting time consuming.
