VS 2022 install

Post by wlopatin »

Just took advantage of the low price and purchased VS2022. Question is: Do I need to uninstall my VS2020 first or will they both run independently? Both are the ultimate versions.
Thanks.

You can have many versions of VS installed at the same time, but only one version can be open at a time

Quite a few of us, as RobertOZ says, have various versions all installed on the same computer. They do so for various reasons. Some of us help out here so want to check earlier versions which have problems for users. Some do so because they think or know that an earlier version does one thing well, and a later version does some things better.

One thing you need to know about VS 2022, though, is that it already has an update (SP2) waiting for it. Hopefully the Corel servers still have the original version available for download, and have not already updated it automatically. Hopefully the version you have will install build 472. The thing is that SP2 causes a fairly significant problem with the way VS sees and handles frames in inserted video. Corel has acknowledged they can replicate the problem, and we assume they are working on it. But we have heard nothing further, including when we urged them to withdraw SP2.

So in the meantime, we are telling people about the problem and telling them not to load the update despite the urging message they do so every time they open VS 2022. So if you get build 472 when you open your installed version 2022, leave it at that until you see an all clear here that the original problem with the patch has been fixed. So far people who have loaded the original version are getting 472. But that could change. Hearing from our tech contacts in Corel/Alludo at this time of changeover to Alludo, though, is becoming another problem all in itself...

Just to let everyone know, the link installed VS2022 Ultimate 25.1.0.472 and it went well. Now I have to install all the extra stuff.
I understand to stay at this version and do any updates until this forum publishes the OK.

Thanks for letting us know. It's good to know that at least Corel/Alludo has left build 472 as the main download. Sometimes they update that on the server with the latest update patches. But as I have said, they are well aware of the problems with SP2 so they are obviously not updating anything on the server build for the moment.

Now I seem to be having a problem with the video overlays pack that came with the ultimate VS2022 I bought. I downloaded the file and then ran the exe from the download folder. The window seemed to run properly and complete but I have no idea where the new video overlays are and I don't know where to see them in the VS2022 program. I must be missing something easy.
I have not yet installed the extra VStemplates but wonder if that will be the same problem?
Thanks in advance...

I have two packs from 2021 purchase, I assume the same files
Video_overlays_pack.exe
Installs to a folder on my desktop, I move those to a safer location.
Then import to the Overlay Library ( the flower icon) – Animated Overlays and Graphics
Use the videos on the overlay tracks.

VS_templates.exe
Install to C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate
Show in the Templates library – Custom gallery.

Assuming these are the same packs, I believe there was a problem using one of the templates, just cannot remember details.

Thanks again for the help.
I did not see the folder in the desktop because of the way I have installed OS and this original desktop was hidden. Thanks to you, I searched and found it.
Next I have to try the templates.

At least the templates will populate the library and be available to use
