Re: annoying splash screen update
What do you mean a splash screen update? Do you mean an advertisement for updating PSP?

Have you adjusted your Message Preferences in the Help menu?

Re: annoying splash screen update
Not Messages, message preferences. It's the next item down on the help menu list.
In this dialog, you turn off the receipt of updates. Just make sure everything is deselected and that the drop-down box says "Do not show me tray messages for this application".

Re: annoying splash screen update
Do you mean the menu item is missing? Or that they are all turned off? There are no default workspaces that don't have the Message Preferences option. I tested. So if you mean that your menu doesn't have the Message Preferences then you need to reset.
You can do this in one of two ways:
1) View -> Customize
2) In the Customize dialog select "Menu" from the tabs at the top
3) Hit the "Reset" button under the "Show Menus For" drop-down box. That should reset all menus to factory defaults.
Or you can reset the whole workspace (probably your best option). Instructions for this can be found here - https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=67616

Re: annoying splash screen update
Are you using the Essentials Workspace or the Complete workspace? Essentials has less options than the Complete workspace.

Re: annoying splash screen update
Place your mouse cursor virtually anywhere in the working area or even the area up top occupied by the command menus. Right click and you should get a drop down menu with Workspace at the bottom. Select that and you should be presented with another menu showing inter alia Complete and Essentials (as well as Photography and Sea-to-Sky).
