Unkown PSP 2023 Ultimate file

Post by michel392 »

Hello!

I ordered PSP 2023 Ultimate (upgrade) and received the instructions to install by e-mail.

I downloaded 8 files ( please see 1st part of the picture bellow ) and installed them, one after one. All programs are working fine.
TelaArquivosPSP2023Ult1b.jpg
But I noticed a zip file (psp2023_ult.zip, size: 1.195.102 Kb, please see 2nd part of the picture above). I do not remember to have downloaded this very large file from Corel site. Was it downloaded in the background while I was installing PSP?

My question is: must I execute it? (All the PSP programs are already working fine)

I asked the Corel Support, but the person just replied me to reinstall all the programs again... (a lot of work, to unsinstall and reinstall all programs in the download list provided by Corel).

I would like to know what is this large file for, please, and if it is necessary to execute it.

Thank you.
Antonio Michel

PSP uses a web installer that downloads the main installer ensuring that each time you install with it, you're always up to date with the latest patches. That file was downloaded by the PSP2023_ult.exe program. When you ran that it downloaded the zip file containing the full installer for PSP and then ran the installer from inside it.

If you finished the PSP installation then you don't need this file anymore. Feel free to delete it. Usually the PSP installer will delete it after the installation is done.

Oh, ok, thank you very much, LeviFiction for your explanation about the file. I was sure I had not downloaded it.

Now, I am in peace of mind. If I had taken the advice from Corel Support I would have wasted a lot of time unnecessarily.

Thanks again!

Maybe good to know I installed in 2022 version 25.1.0.28 containing the patch which could give problems with some scripts.
A corrected patch (25.1.0.32) was released in November,
And now according to Carole Cassel the latest version is February, 25.1.0.47.

Just removed PSP from PC en installed again with the install program I still have (from 2022)
Got now version 25.1.0.32.

Not satisfied :-) Downloaded the trial version, and after installing Now I have 25.1.0.47

Mystery explained. This is a direct quote from Joseph Lin of Alludo/Corel:

The 25.1.0.47 version is a specific update for the "Trial" version and it tries to correct an Ultimate content installation issue when the Ultimate version was upgraded from the trial version directly. Thus, you will find once the user who owned version number 25.1.0.47, then their PSP2023 Ultimate was upgraded from the trial version directly.
The 25.1.0.47 version doesn't include any new fixed bugs or improvements so you can stay in the 25.1.0.32 version and keep enjoying your editing.

Thank you.

For us users is hard to tell what's going on.
On page with updates: https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support ... /#psp-2023
is nothing about this "updated" TRIAL version. So we can only asks. :(
