Go to Manage window and select RAW Image.
Displays as being an RW2.Right click image and select Edit RAW.
RAW Selection window appears and I select first option Use AfterShot Lab.
Press Continue and Corel AfterShot Lab opens in new window.
All good so far however if I select either Auto Level or Perfectly Clear I get the following message:-
Unable to write XMP P1150671.RW2.xmp: The media is write protected.
This also appears when hovering over various options.
Going back to Manage window if I right click a RAW Image, select RAW metadata and then select Save Metadata to file I get the message Unhandled exception, Code = 204. Click on OK and PSP Crashes.
Bottom line AfterShot Lab is unusable and rules out my using RAW images in PSP 2023.
Help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: PSP 2023 RAW editing problems
RAW editors use sidecar files to store your changes as a list so everything is non-destructive. Most save them in the same location as the RAW file. That error is telling you that wherever you have your RAW is write protected and PSP can't write the xmp sidecar file to that location.
If you're doing it directly on the SD card make sure the write protected switch isn't flipped on the card, or copy your RAW files to a writeable location like your Pictures folder.

Re: PSP 2023 RAW editing problems
Many thanks for your help copying the files from my SD Card solved the problem. I now need to find out how to check if the protected write switch is switched or not. OK I have found it on the side of the SD Card and once again you were spot on. Double thanks in order, as you have solved my problem and I have learned something so a huge thank you. Much appreciated.LeviFiction wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 6:33 pm RAW editors use sidecar files to store your changes as a list so everything is non-destructive. Re: PSP 2023 RAW editing problems
A little bit hasty on saying this was resolved as the problem has returned. I suspect it might be the SD Card and as I only have one I will need to get another one to test it out. I have checked out various hacks to solve this but none have been successful. The little switch on the side is in the correct position and I have formatted the SD etc all to no avail. I might just download a demo of another RAW editor to confirm if it is the SD card and not AfterShot Lab. Onwards and upwards. I should add that this problem has only happened after upgrading to PSP 2023 and I had no issues with previous versions of PSP.
Just download a trial version of ON1 Photo RAW and it opens and edits RAW images from my SD Card without any problems. I have contacted Corel Support with the problem and will post the results.
