Info Pallette

Post by LindaP57 »

How do I get rid of the Info Pallette in PSP 2022? I close it, but the next time I open PSP, it's there again. I've closed it, saved the workspace, but it's still there and open every time I open PSP. I never had that issue with my previous version.

Since you've saved your workspace try resetting your workspace to factory defaults to see if that takes care of it. If it doesn't you can always load the workspace you saved to get back to where you were.

Here is a link to instructions on resetting if you don't know how.

When I try to reset workspace to factory defaults, I can't, it's grayed out.

Info Palette is under Manage, View, Palettes, Info

What do you meant it's greyed out? If you're using the Reset Preferences option and seeing it greyed out then try the other method. Close PSP, hold SHIFT and double click on the PSP Icon on your desktop. A dialog should pop up asking if you want to do a factory reset.

Doesn't holding the SHIFT key while opening PSP reset the whole program to factory default? I was hoping to avoid doing that because last time I lost all my settings, file locations etc.

Yes, it does but there are scripts to help keep this to a minimum. The saved Workspace should save most UI changes. Then these two scripts take care of most everything else.

Backup and restore File Locations

Save and restore Preferences
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=56858

Run them to create backups of your preferences and file locations. Then do the reset. Next load the Workspace, then run the restore versions of the two scripts to restore the preferences and file locations.

I ended up doing the reset and got all my settings back to normal but it didn't solve the problem. Then I went back and forth between PSP 2022 and my old PSP X9 comparing settings and finally found the problem.
Thanks for the help.

Would you mind sharing what you found to be the problem in case others have the same issue?

In General Program Preferences/Tabs I had to change "Set Edit as Default" to "Set Manage as Default"

Glad that works for you but I don't think having Edit as the default is/was the cause of the issue.

I typically don't use Manage but I enabled it for the purposes of testing to see if I could replicate your issue.

I have Edit set as my default.

I went to the Manage screen and disabled the info palette; switched back to Edit and then back to Manage and info palette was still disabled. Next I closed PSP and re-launched it. I checked Manage and the info palette was still disabled.

I tried this in both PSP2022 and 2023 with the same results.

I tried it several times and every time I switched to Edit the problem would reappear. I use 2 monitors and have the Edit screen open on one, and Manage on the other. Maybe that’s the reason.

Could be. I don't have two monitors but maybe someone who does could test this.
