One last question if I may. Are modern TV's and portable DVD players able to play MP4 files directly? I'm used to DVD's and ISO files (with the menus) but if I'm able to skip the step of creating an ISO file and burning by just popping in a high capacity USB drive with a bunch of MP4 files into my TV or portable DVD player, that would be nice, assuming it's possible. Thank you all again for the expert help.

Most modern flat screen TVs these days can play mp4 directly. This includes 4K. Just put the video on a USB stick drive or external USB hard drive and plug it into one of the TV's USB ports. A large number of people do this every day, which is why DVDs and Blu-Ray discs have lost a lot of popularity. In many places, it is now difficult to even buy blank DVDs and BD discs.
I am less certain about DVD and BD players, thinking that some may have limitations on what they could play. But you would need to check the specifications for the device in question.

Yes, from what I see you are correct. Some portable DVD players require you to convert MP4 files to AVI in order to play them (either from the USB drive or SD card) while other more expensive models include the ability to play MP4 files.
I expect that either processing a MP4 file requires a more powerful/costlier processor or a more costly codec/license in order to allow for the processing of MP4 files.
