So PSP 2023 is 64 bit only?

Yes, Plugins are the problem, which is why I've installed the 32bit version of PSP 2022.

One really weird thing I noticed with the trial version of 2023 (now uninstalled) and even with the PSP 2022, the installer sprays files all over the place, in the most unexpected places... A bit like a mechanical manure spreader.

Not something I've really thought about until now as I've always installed 32bit versions of PSP, and thus just transferred my Plugins to the new version.

Are there many 64 bit conversions of old Plugin favourites available these days?

The only conversions are from plugins still under development. Otherwise you need to use some kind of workaround. Like the bridge plugin from Mediachance. That plugin calls an external application that can run 32-bit plugins. There are also newish plugins that can do some of the things older plugins used to do. Like the G'mic plugin has a ton of effects it can run

That's something worth knowing for the future if I ever decide to update past PSP2022.
